what tures are you guys running on and why

I run the round ones. The square ones gave me a rough ride even though they provided a lot of traction off road.  :sarcastic:

The best wet weather tires I have found are the Michelin Pilot Road 4's

You will have to do the 17" rim conversion to run these tires.

I have been running Bridgestone BT45's for years, I have tried other brands, but for the wear versus price versus grip, I reckon they tick all boxes.
Obviously they won't stand up to other super sticky tyres for serious scratching, but it depends on your riding.

I can't play, my tires might be really good in the wet but it rains so little here in SoCal.  :pardon:
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

PR4's great tyres but in my opinion, Metzeler Roadtec Z8's are just as good or better.

Pete, over the last 12 months I  have had the last of four consecutive sets of Conti RA 2 GT's, Metzeler Z8's (on your recommendation) and recently fitted PR4's.

My biggest complaint with the Conti's and Metzelers is the lack of tread depth indicators in the centre of the tyre. I have nearly been caught out a number of times.

I have gone for the PR4 GT's this time for that reason alone.

The Z8's were brilliant and were what I was scraping the brake and gear levers on (not intentionally) returning from the manshed weekend and they are fantastic in the wet but the lack of wear indicators annoys me no end.

I believe the next generation is already warehoused in Australia just waiting for the stock of Z8's to sell, it will be interesting to see if they addressed this issue.
I have not had a chance (dry roads) to really push the PR4's since fitting them but hope to have done so by the rally.

Not many sleeps now!

Pr4s are awesome in the rain and dry, and last a long time. Haven't had a chance to try z8s. I tried an earlier version z4?  I think. Wet they sucked. Dry they were OK. Still would slide then hook up. Wore out fast. Very disappointing. Went to pr3s loved everything about them. Pr4s a little more slide when spinning the rear tire wheelie'n out of lowspeed corners with the 1350. But very predictable. Pr4s Last a little longer than the pr3s.
I used to think Metz. Were the best. But after the z4s? I changed my mind. The z8 obviously are much better. Probably 4 times better. So I'm sure they are great too.

Michellin Pilot Roads get my thumbs up. I'm only using 3's but what a difference to the old Pirellis. (I do have the 17" rear wheel mod)
Still thinking of something..................

I have never tried the Z4's but I can assure you the Z8's are definitely worth trying. The Z8's are in the same league as the PR4's. Great in the wet or dry.

Pete, thanks for the tip on the Z8's, what kind of mileage do you get on them?

The mileage on the PR4's is unbelievable. I think I could get an easy 6k+ out of the back.

Pat, just checked my maintenance record book, Z8's 9,728km's, PR4's (just about to be replaced by another set of Z8's)  9,632km's, just touching the wear indicators. I'm more than happy with both milages as I seldom get more than 6,500 - 7,000 km's out of any tyres that I've tried.
