Thermal vest clip failure...

My rarely used heated vest suffered an injury a few months back. The thermostat was still connected to the bike when I stepped away just far enough break the clips holding it to the tank.  :dash2: :dash2: :dash2: I don't imagine this is a common problem where many of you have already developed the instinctive nature of unplugging from your ride at every stop. But being from SoCal and not knowing the diffence between a light drizzle of from FULL BLOWN STORM WATCH (We have Doplar radar now. spent a gazillion dollars on it I am sure). I tore the hook part off my nearly new Tourmaster temp control unit. I could have gone the warranty path and got another that looks and performs just like it, chances are I will bust it off just the same. Or fab up a new one cuz I have more time than money, and a bunch of crap in the garage I have no use for. So I found about 6" of SST TIG welding wire, pliers to bend it in to shape, a hot torch to get her nice and hot and melt in to the base. A little shoving the excess plastic over the wire where it melted into the base. Added some of ABS putty over the top to seal the deal and all that is left is some cosmetic stuff.... All is well again...

Lets see, the current SoCal rides are as such:
FUCK ElNino - The Friday at 210 FWY, exit Roxford find the diner for a cup O'joe, stands up at 9A - Brekky is at the Grizzly cafe in Wrightwood. Bring your wellingtons, might be wet.
Wheel Chocks Rally - RPM in Oak Grove, might need a room, stands up at 10AM
WCR - Willits - Find a room, Thermite will start the fire and lies and BS shall commence,
Centeral Rally in Colorado - Find a room. All rules are off....
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

Yeah, well, you'd think so. I have used my Tourmaster vest hundreds of times and still walk away from the bike occasionally with it plugged in.

I clip the controller to the belt on my jacket, it's easy to reach while riding and if I do forget to unplug, it just pulls the connector apart.

Glad you got it fixed anyway, they are a great accessory.
