First Wet Ride on the 84 FJ1100

Last night was our monthly local VJMC meeting. As usual I rode the FJ11. Just after arriving at the club where we have our meetings a massive lightning/thunder/rainstorm broke. By the time the meeting finished the storm had esaed and was raining lightly. I didn't have any wet weather gear with me. The rain pants I usually have in my Gearsack bag I remembered were in the bag on my FJ12 that was stolen about this time last year.
Rather than wait any longer in the hope that the rain would stop I decided to ride home, about 20klm. It's 1.30pm at the moment and its still raining and 20C, rained all night too.
So off I went wearing Kevlar Draggin' Jeans and my Aldi MC jacket, new Dri Rider boots and FF Aldi helmet.
A few things I noticed on the ride.
The new Duro tyres performed admirably. Seemed to have excellent grip, even when gassing it from lights to keep ahead of cars and their spray.
The fairing was keeping a fair bit of water off my jeans and the legs were only a little damp by the time I got home but the crotch was soaked from water running down the front of my jacket.
When I undressed at home there were a couple of wet patches on my shirt from where I had the jacket vents open (the temperature yesterday had been 40C and was still quite warm riding home, not a bit cold at all).
Took my boots off and my socks were bone dry. Good one. No water in my helmet even when I flipped the visor up while waiting at lights and no water down the back off my neck so the jacket did its job there.
As for the bike, it seemed to not want to idle when pulled up at lights. I had to keep blipping the throttle to keep it from stalling but when I arrived home I parked it and let it idle while I opened the garage door and it was fine. Hmmm.
All in all I quite enjoyed the ride but I'm sure that in winter it would be a different story.
Does the FJ11, have any known issues when riding in rain?

If it is really wet you can get a lot of water laying on in the spark plug holes which when on idle will make it cut out, (In Scotland it has been known to rain a bit).

So thats what causes that!

Did you have a tank bag?  The 1100 vents the tank through the gas cap.
A wet liner on the tank bag can slow the venting enough to make the idle bad and even run the carbs completely out of fuel

No tank bag. Lack of venting would be a problem wet or dry methinks.
