Spiegler handlebars

I'm considering going to the spiegler conversion bars, I see that rpm is now selling them . Has anyone done it who has some pics and a report on how they like them? did a search and didn't really find much. I have the 1/2 in risers now, but the arthritus in my neck starts bothering me after an hour or so and a little more upright might help. thanks, Keith

I know that there are a few members that have put a variety of tube type bars on their FJ's. The Speigler LSL conversion has been around for many years. I know that they have been used most in Europe with good results.

A few members have converted over to USD front forks. In most cases, a tubular handle bar is required.

Whether it is a LSL conversion kit, or an USD fork conversion. I have never heard anyone complain that the tubular handle bar conversion was a mistake.

The first photo is the LSL kit that RPM sells. The second photo is because of a fork modification.


I'm not the fastest FJ rider, I am 'half-fast', the fastest slow guy....

I just think they look out of place. Like they are from a dirt bike. That's why I made my own bars out of the clamps from the clippons. Used 7/8 aluminum bar stock for the bars. And 1" x 2" aluminum rectangular bar for the risers. Cut and shaped with craftsman jig saw and hf belt sander. Made them the same as the stock fj handle bars.

Sweet looking dash on both of your bikes Dan, actually both bikes in general look trick. :good2: Are they digital gauges each side of the central screen, if so what do they display.

I agree that they look out of place and i like what you've done. i may end up going that way, but wanted to get some feedback on the speigler setup from people that have done it. Keith

One on right is fuel, left is volt meter. Center is speed, ambient and oil temp, tach etc.

Like I said you just need the clamp part the original clippons. The rest is simple to make.

I to know about sore backs etc. It's the only downside to the FJ that irritates me a lot.
So I looked at a few options. One being what I just purchased. It's An ABM kit from Germany via HPS BIKERS the UK. Cost was about 144 pounds. I haven't fitted them yet. I put there handlebars against mine. Look similar position so for now I've pushed these aside and I have now purchased the handlebars only from a Queensland supplier. I'm waiting for them to arrive. They have a 100 mm rise. 165mm pull back and are 730mm wide. They bolt on with the ABM clamp and to me that's the beauty of this type. If you don't like it it's a small cost to replace the bars only $40. The only thing is but it goes for any set up is the clutch, brake and accelerator lines. They all have to possibly be replaced. Mines the originals anyway so an upgrade is good. Will keep you posted how it goes. If it's only this part that looks odd then I can live with that. Other options are mega bucks on forks etc or a massive loan for a new bike. So for now...... Soldier on and experiment
