Installed my renewed carbs today.got a problem now.under hard excelleration im getting a pinging in my valve train.iradium ngk plugs and 93 octain helped.the were bench synched.any ideas?

The last set of carbs we have built were Cash's.

Pinging indicates lean. I see stock jetting was advised. Any mods to the bike like pod filters, aftermarket exhaust, etc?

Stock exhaust,each carb has a filter.its very evident the bike is starving for fuel.I hot a clymer manual.nothing bout synchining the cards.

Seen a post on the web about bench synching them.tryied it.wasn't a good choice.bike hates that set up.gonna hook my guages up tomorrow. Try to get it back to where it was.it has no power now.

I guess having individual air filters for carbs changes their operation.seriously!! For the life of me I wished I sent them to RPM.took the carbs to work tues.Christ their so clean you could eat off them,anyway having those filters will require rejetting?i got the bike with those filters already installed,i know rhis all cylinders are firing.no vaccum leaks.the air box is missing.gonna try hooking up my vaccum guages,im a diesel tech not a carburator specialist.i can say,youbfellas with the skills to get these bikes running great have a gift.sorry i keep beating a dead horse.

I've found success.the cure.a $160 set of guages.and a tail pipe sniffer obtained at work.still a little lean but much better.

Tell us more about the "tail pipe sniffer" What did it tell you?

Based on that info. what did you do to resolve the lean condition?

I went to a local salvage yard purchased a good used air box and bought a new filter.installed.then I hooked up my new vacuum guages and synched my carbs.I'm still gonaa install the 40.0 pilot jets I orders from rpm,the filters the original owner put on created a lean condition.wanna keep it as close to stock as possible

Pat can't tell if that's sarcasm or what,I'm learning as I go.I'm new at this trying to save a buck were I can.hope members here can understand,the fj1200 had me smitten at the age of 17,second bike I ever rode next to my gather 750 virago.i rode the 85 vmax and the fj1200 has been a bike i always dreamed of owning.hope my passion for tjis bike is appre iated.

Good move, for all around daily riding 90% of the time, the factory set up might be "just the ticket".

When install my new jets is their gonna be any carb adjusting when done.
