Well I went for a little ride the other day. With a fully packed KLR and a few maps and tracks in the GPS to find my way. I left Brisbane and headed to Woodenbong and through some forest area there I know. Skirted the hwy down to Glenn Innes backroads past Armidale forest roads and alike to Nundle. Nundle Scone road Bylong Valley (some back roads) then Hill End and the Bridle Tk. Bathurst and some more single lane roads to Yass. Wee Jasper and lost on dirt to around Canberra. On to the Shannons flat road to Adaminaby. Jindabyne and Barrys way. Buchan area over to Hotham and Bright. Bit of Family catch-up in central Vic and on the road again. Mt Buller and Craigs Hut for a snow shower, Cobbler and the stair case back out to Bright and over Hotham again. Omeo and on to Sassafras gap Mt Sassafras and a Failed attempt at Mt Pinnibar. Over to the next Valley and a second attempt at Pinnibar but no go to steep for a fully loaded pig. Alpine way back to Jindabyne on to Cooma and Nowra for a shed day with the Yamaha FJ crew. Some nice back roads Moss Vale and then the Wombeyan caves road more forest to Oberon. Sunny corner State forest and back on the Bylong and that great diversion I found. Some more back roads and Barrington tops NP down to Gloucester. Nowendoc SF and Gondwana rainforest. Dorrigo and a pretty straight forward run home. 6300Km round trip and some great views as well. Took a lot of pixs so follow to link if you wish.

Some great pics there Richard, did it worry you at all travelling and camping in some of those places on your own, some of it looks very rugged and remote, not the sort of place to have a mishap like it seems happened in one of your photos.

Didn't happen to see any Yowies in your travels at all did you.

KLR's like to take naps now and then, Had a bit of a off there. I had planned the trip with my son but it ended up he could not come. I enjoy riding alone and time spent travelling. I take precautions in case something goes wrong. I have a Epirb on my belt at all times. I could come to grief cleaning out the gutters so I think why waste good riding time because no one else will ride. Yowies...Didn't see any but heard them bleating.  :wacko3:

WOW, WOW AND MORE WOW! What a trip, and the scenery, you lucky thing. It is certainly worth having a good road bike AND a good dirt bike to see everything in this great land. ( I'm still working on the dirt bike side of things :)  )

Any pics & specs on your selected Epirb?

Re Yowies and there area of sightings. (Coastal Batemans bay to the sub tropics in Queensland according to Wikipedia). Yowies have also been called "Yahoo" in some aboriginal cultures.

No history of sightings in the Victorian Alps. (I ran a precautionary Safety check for March)

Interestingly I also noted this (from the same source) re Cannabis :- Temperatures above 31 °C (88F) and below 15.5 °C (60F) seem to decrease THC potency and slow growth.  :drinks:

The Yowie is a distant relation to the Sasquatch (I think that is how you spell it) and the Yeti, but probably more closely related to the Drop Bear (these are a real thing)
