Well, since you're all complaining about the peace & quiet ...  I need some help with my sidestand switch.
The damn thing is ignoring me!  I went through all the logic, and it seemed to be correct (although it was a ... while between examining the logic and the test ride this week).  Anyway, sidestand switch doesn't kill the engine as it should.  Clutch switch does inhibit the starter, when in gear.  Wires are all connected & not pinched, etc.
Any quick & dirty ideas of where/what to look at?

Thanks!

Have you verified that the switch changes state with a multi-meter or test light?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

There have been some posts about older model FJ's without side stand switches. My 84 middle of the production run has both side stand and clutch safety switches. Some people have said when the switch goes bad just bypass it. Not a good idea. I have an immaculate 82 Honda 650 Nighthawk I jump on to make short runs and it does not have a side stand safety switch.About 3 years ago forgot to put the side stand up leaving the house and turned left about 20-25 mph. One second later the bike was riding me down the street for about 30ft. When stopped I was face down perpendicular to the bike and it was across my waist. It happened so fast I don't know how it got on top of me. I wish I had a video. I was pinned under it and could not get up. A nice young fellow got the bike off me and I went on my way. The next day everything was sore, pisses blood for a couple days and my hip did not support me. Having an extreme aversion to hospitals I borrowed crutches for 3 weeks and a cane for a couple more. I know my jacket padding saved my elbow and shoulder. Helmet saved my face. Boots saved my left foot. I am now paranoid about forgetting my side stand. My Nighthawk is still immaculate apart from some scratches on the left front turn signal. My sisters first question upon seeing me on crutches was "How's the bike?".   Dave

I wish my early 84 had the side stand switch (no clutch lever switch either). I have had one occasion where i have ridden off and forgotten the stand, but was luck i had a flash if in-site a few hundred meters (just before the first left hander)  down the road to check it. Have been paranoid about it ever since. I am assuming the work by cutting the engine if first gear is engaged while the stand is down. Could they be wired in if it was not originally an option?

Ed, you'll have to refresh my memory. I thought that was fixed since you moved the power supply for the Dyna ignition system from where I hooked it up at the red/white wire at the coils to somewhere behind the handlebar kill switch

If it is still acting up, what did Dyna say about the FJ side stand switch interlock?

It looks like the orange wire might need to be used for the side sand switch if the FJ interlock is no longer functioning (Pg4).

Real men don't need no stinkin' sidestand switch.   :drinks:

Yes, it's Friday night.  Yes, I'm drinking scotch.  Deal with it....

You need to hook up the orange wire to get the side stand switch function.
