A few of us have tossed around the idea of moving the rally to a more desirable location.

For those of us who are regular attendees, is there anyone who is absolutely positively opposed to leaving the Tellico Plains campground, where we have stayed since the koa was destroyed?

Fwiw, I'm confident err can find a better campground that has better facilities, has a better campground layout, and is in as good, if not better, of a location.

I like the current location, and they've been good to us, but it would be nice to have a place big enough to accommodate everyone.

Dean,
What is your alternate proposal?

Well Dean, you know my feelings on this. I want the whole group to be in one place!

I do like Wayne and his place, but OK with trying something else.

I've heard good things about this place.. Looks like a step up. Behind Tooties/stecoah diner

Looks like a great place!

Too bad there's no good way to get there from here that doesn't involve the Dragon...

I'm sending him to that place Danny, I saw the website and kinda of liked the looks of it too. The only drawback is there is no gas station right on the corner. BUT there is Tootie's for breakfast or they serve breakfast there!

I've been there a few times. Great campground but I really do not think that there are enough cabins

Suzanne and I are headed down there this weekend to check out a couple locations. Any location we check out will be on the other side of the Cherohala Skyway; having the rally in Tellico, we are always riding into the sun going across the Skyway, and there are more roads that we ride on that side of the Chero S/w than the Tellico side.  Criteria for consideration will be ability to accommodate us via a combination of tent sites, cabins, and rv sites; modern facilities; a nice central meeting area where we may congregate in the evening aka a fire circle;and motorcycle-friendly.

By doing this, I am effectively adding to the time and distance it takes me to get to the fall rally.  I don't care.  I'm tired of us all not being in the same location, tired of not having a campfire, tired of not having any Wi-Fi/cell service, and tired of having to ride into the sun whilst using my left hand to shield my eyes when going across the Cherohala.

I'm not what anyone would consider a "regular" at the Fall Rally, but it seems to me that the important thing is the people, not the venue.
We're not a club. Clubs have rules. Pay dues. Wear hats and shit.

I am up for a location change for the fall rally.... on all the merits Dean mentions.... especially for The Cherohala in the mornings and evenings.

Its my favorite road and i prefer the sun at my back or directly overhead..... my eyes have a hard time adjusting to shade when riding into the rising or setting Sun. ( yes i am getting old )

Change would be a good thing if it means everyone can/will stay at the same place just like we do in the spring.... I am positive that is what we're missing from the fall rally these days (well that and a big ass fire)

yeah man whats up with that?  I think somebody needs to get their priorities straight..

I agree with the sun issue too - it does suck being on the west side of the riding.  Run smack into in the morning, and again in the evening.

Meh... the sun, fog, and grass trimmings just add to the fun....The again I wonder how fast.... Probably best I don't know.

.. Miss drinking beer around a big a$$ fire. Staying at the hillbilly Hilton is nice but the drive back from the campground puts a damper on things.

I'd like to add my thoughts.
I have only been to the fall rally 2 times, but the sun issue on the skyway would be my number one reason for changing the location to the East.
After that, having the whole group together at a campground that allows for a big a$$ fire would great!
