Can I install a inline electric fuel pump  on my 84 fj1100

FJmonkey

Welcome Cowboy, yes you can. But there are some issues to deal with and some are serious safety issues. The Fuel Pump (FP) FJs are controlled to pump for 3 to 5 seconds when the bike key is turned to ON, this make sure there is some fuel in the carbs, but shuts off if the engine is not started. This feature is also important in the event of a crash, if the engine stops or stalls, the fuel flow will stop. Once started the fuel pump maintains a fuel flow and or stops pumping if the the pressure reaches about 5psi. This may be too much pressure for the float needles to hold back and may cause flooding. So you will need to change the needle seats to the smaller ones designed for FP FJs.

That said, why do want a FP? If you are having delivery problems then we should solve them first. The Gravity Feed works quite well when set up properly.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

So you can run a real honest to God fuel filter on the fuel line....keeping shit out of your carbs.
Our steel tanks are not getting any younger and the E10 fuel is not helping.

I recall someone (George?) posted a link to a nifty fuel pump safety switch which ran off the tach signal, but I can't find it..

George gave me the Facet pump and parts he was working with when he found out I was looking to install one on my '86. So if I don't go FI on the ambulance I will install the pump and safety circuit. But it will be a while before I am ready (have the funds) to rebuild.
