FJ Johnnny --- I live in Oceanside and ride with monkey all the time ---- I will assume Feb 12 is 2016 --- there is loads of good riding down here and look forward to seeing some fellow Canadians.   I am from Milton originally so we were practically neighbors.    I would frequent Niagara Falls quite often in 87-92 with my 86 FJ --- ( still got it too)

My fj is getting ready for california.

fj johnnie

Thanks Moparman. We are stoked about this trip. It will be epic. There are five FJ Forum members coming along on this trip. They will and or can identify themselves as time goes on. This is a bucket list item for sure.
Black Betty is ready to roll (90 FJ) as is the 93 GTS. Not sure yet which bike to bring . The GTS is set up for touring better than the FJ, as it has 45 liter bags. There is another GTS coming along as well so maybe four FJ's and two GTS's would be a good mix.  John

If you get the dates sorted a little closer, want to travel to central California...

Feel free to add RPM to the list of things to do. We would be glad to have you stop by.

I personally would like to stop by the rpm shop while we're down in california.

fj johnnie

We would love to stop by RPM for all manner of reasons. Every one of the forum members has been treated well by RPM.  As we get closer we will set up an itinerary. John

We are leaving Southern Ontario on Feb the 12th. Driving straight to the west coast. We aren't sure where we will land at this point. Initially we were thinking of Vegas, however with a 40' motorhome and a 25' trailer we would prefer to cross the mountains as far south as possible. So we will likely arrive in Phoenix or somewhere close by the evening of the 14th. From there who knows.
Once we are sure of the route I will post up again.

Sounds like a great adventure my birthday is in Feb, if you guys decide to ride Cal. I would be glad to take you guys to the Rock Store, Neptune's Net etc... FJmonkey, Moparman and I live pretty close to each other so getting us three guys together would be easy. There are lot's of places to camp on our coast but the length of your rig would be difficult to get in certain areas off the beach.

fj johnnie

The plan is to park the rig and do a six day ride. Initially we were going to do a few stops with the motorhome, but that would eat up riding time. We hope to meet up with you guys. I would love to ride with you and Monkey etc , and stop at RPM as well. Tomorrow we meet again figure out  where  we will park the bus and start riding. Then we can plan routes etc.

I'm also in the LA area, about 35 miles from mark aka FJmonkey.  Keep me in mind for a group ride, if myschedule permits. Any excuse to go to the Rock Store is generally good with me!

I have an suggestion...... Drive the motorhome all the way to Victorville, CA.. Take I-15 south to Hwy 138, take that to Highway 2 and go through Wrightwood, it will take you right into Pasadena and FJmonkeys back yard.

FYI part of the 2 is closed for the season Road Conditions for SR2. You can drive into Wrightwood and see the little town. Maybe stop at the Grizzly Cafe for a bite to eat. But you will need drive East back to the 138 and then the 15 South to the 210 to travel West. The ride up the 2 from the 210 side is a "Bucket List" ride for anyone. Newcomb's ranch is a motorcycle stop. On Sundays with good weather it looks like this.

With crappy weather like this rain and pea size hail it looks more like this. It was not raining when I left the house. :ireful:

We have decided that our itinerary is such. Leave the great white north Feb 12, in the evening. Drive non-stop to Flagstaff Arizona. If it is cold there, we keep on driving to Sedona. Drive around Sedona for a day, then head to California.
If Arizona is too cold, we keep driving to Bakersfield CA. We drive up and down the valley and go to Oakdale on the Wednesday. Hopefully this makes sense, as the fearless map reader on our team has come up with this plan.
We don't have a name for the tour yet. Nor do we have a sponsor. Maybe we call it the Arthritis Pain Tour 2016. Or the, Where Did I Leave My Glasses Tour?.
We will be easily identifiable on the road, as one of the FJ's will have a tank bag stacked so high that the rider will need a periscope to see over it. So if you see an FJ coming at you with a giant eye resembling Cyclops, it will be one of our favourite riders. Don't be afraid of him. He is really nice and if you scratch him behind his ears his one leg will start to shake uncontrollably. Also he may take a few dozen pictures of you.

The rv and trailer will look like a touring rock bands setup.
I'm thinking we need a sign or two,,,,wild fjs US tour /16
