Hi guys.

I've been googling but I can't really find a detailed howto.
When doing the GSXR 5,5" rim conversion. Will I only need a new rim or will I also need everything else that comes with a GSXR wheel (spacers, sprocket, rear disc and break calliper) ?
If I'll need all of that, will it require some modifications to install them on my JF1100 ?

I'm using a ZX7 wheel but the principle is the same.

Best to find a parts bike and grab everything that's on the axle:

Wheel, sprocket drive, axle, spacers, brake caliper bracket, brake caliper, tension arm, etc.

I did the same thing with my ZX& wheel: if it was on the axle, I took it. Any Additional spacers I need I'll just make on the lathe.

My understanding for the suzi wheel conversion is all you need (in addition to above listed) is a couple washers on either side to take up some space.

Chuck "gsxr rear wheel" in the site search and lots of hits will show up on how to do it.

This might help.  It is in the Files section under Supension.

Hi The question has been answered many times on this site, BUT as i only did this conversion 2 weeks ago I though i would share.
1) you will need everything what comes with the wheel - spacers calliper hanger, calliper and brake line would help too.
2) you will also need 2 4mm spacers with a 17mm diameter hole for on each side of the existing GSXR spacers.
3) you will need to get a tab welded to the underside of the swing arm (or another appropriate mounting point depending on the lenght of the torque arm)to conect the GSXR brake torque arm too.
4) you will also probably need to get an aftermarket rear sproket for the GSXR wheel, as i thing the smallest standard one is 43 tooth.

Other than that it is pretty straight forward.

Edit. After about 96 Suzuki changed the axle size, so you will want one from about 89 - 96 (Post 92 went to a straight spoke design)

Would it be possible (and would it make sense) to use 18/38 sprocket combination with this rim?
If so, what sprockets would one use?

I have been running that ratio for the last 3 years and I like it for my touring FJ....

And you have GSXR front rim?
Where did you buy the sprockets, for what bike?

Just the rear.

I got my rear sprocket from this old shop.

Randy at RPM usually has the 18 in stock and can get the 38 rear for the GSXR.  The part number for a 1990 GSXR rear wheel sprocket is JTR816.38

I'm sorry, I ment rear.

Can I use Suzuki GSXR 750 sprockets (same as the rear rim) - 38 and 18 for a 50/530 type of chain?

You will need to use a sprocket that fits the GSXR rear wheel, have the proper offset to line up the front to the rear, and have the ratio (number of teeth front and rear to suit your needs). I am using an "off the shelf" 18T front and a custom (less then OEM) to get 38T on the rear.

So GSXR 750 front sprocket won't fit FJ1100 ? The sprocket is suppose to feat 50/530 FJ1100 chain.

The teeth may fit the chain, but the problem you'll have is the splines on the FJ output shaft will not fit the hole in the sprocket.
