Factory Yamaha service manuals are crap compared to Honda and even Suzuki and Kawasaki. I love the lack of clearance #'s on connecting rod and crankshaft bearings. No journal OD #'s either. Just an example. A suck manual.......Thay are crap in general.

The factory service manual for the FJ1100 does provide all measurements, including the ones you mention
I have the factory service manual for the FJ1100 and the the FJ1200 supplement (both bought in 1987). It does not list bearing shell thickness, crank journal OD or connecting rod big end ID. It tells you to look at the stamped case numbers and crank numbers for proper bearings (pages 3-33 and 3-34). Funny how the manual lists .0063 to .0101in for rod bearing clearance. Try that and let me know how you make out. :sarcastic: It only tells you to Plastigage....I prefer to actually measure.
Even pages 7-6 and 7-7 do not list actual crank journal OD etc. Actual clearance for connecting rods and mains is pretty standard knowledge.....I just like to have factory #'s for journals and bearing thickness. Even my CB750 factory manual written in 1969 has them.
Maybe you fellas have a different version of the factory in Europe and Australia.

Yeah, then they must be different.

Page 3-33 and 3-34 in mine is about valve seat inspection and limits.

The Yamaha part no. of my manual is 36Y-28187-81.
1985 - Yamaha FJ1100 36Y
1978 - Yamaha SR500
1983 - Kawasaki GPZ550 (sold)
1977 - Kawasaki Z400 (sold)

My search for one of these manuals highlighted that there quite a few different oEM versions and supplements available. The Japanese ones look as different again from the cover and the part numbering seems to vary considerably too.

The aftermarket manuals must have got their data & specs from somewhere....................??
