Holy crap Alan, you've outdone yourself!!  From all the recon...the planning...the details...just spectacular.  I...of course...am IN!

This promises to be one for the books.  Ouray...say it with me...EWW-RAY.  Sweet WCR at Willits followed immediately by a week in the Colorado mountains.  Freakin' awesome.   :good2:

It's beautiful riding, that's for sure, but really keep your wits about you on that 'Black Canyon of the Gunnison" road, I have never seen so many deer on any other road in the U.S.

Wish you could join us over here in Colorado.

There's plenty of room!  :drinks:

I was able to get a site-map of their property, so if you are reserving a specific cabin you'll know where it's located.

In a few weeks, CapnRon and I are planning to do a recon-ride down there and spend a night at this place.

We'll check it out, take lots of pictures, and post up all the details we find. :good:

Love to, I plan on coming over for that one, it's beautiful riding there, and I'll be over in the US in a couple of weeks.

Oh hell, if Henry and K-man are in, I'm down for a solid tentative!  Going to have to remember the time change this go around.   Any FJ owners left in Metro Phx want to ride with me, post or pm.    Will have to figure out if I can make the Willits 'pre-rally' happen or not.

Allen, when did you change jobs over to the Ouray Tourism Office?!           :drinks:

Me and Cory are a go.
Thanks go to Capt Ron for the generous offer to help fill his cabin right next to Al's Bar and Grill.

I love having plans made so far in advance, now I can spend the rest of my time getting all my ducks in a row!

OK, so Cap'nRon and Myself made a ride to Ouray a couple weeks ago to check this place out.

We found out a little more info, and I took a bunch of pictures.

*First thing, is that at the time we were there, the were (5) Camping Cabins left. If you want a Cabin, make sure you get your reservation in soon.
They have plenty of Motel rooms/Suites available still.

*Also, we found out that due to their computer system, by default the reservations are being entered at their "Peak" summer rate. Ron had them correct the ones that have been made so far, but when your reservation is confirmed, make sure you remind them that it is "Mid-Season" rates for Rally Week.

* They also offer bedding linens for $5/per person, per night, for those that are riding in from out of state and may be travelling light.

* They sell fuel on site, but it is a little on the pricey side. We found two other fuel stations about 10 miles north in Ridgway, that were about 60-cents cheaper per gallon.

* If you are not paying attention, this place is easy to miss, and you could end up riding right past.
When you arrive, look for the fuel-pumps and the "Conoco" sign. They also have a (non-covered) car-wash bay out front by the road.

* Another interesting bit of info. It is not advertised by them, however most (or possibly all) of the Cabins have running water in the form of a spigot attached to the post that the power box is mounted to, behind each one. I didn't look at all of them, but each one that I looked at had one.

* Each one of the cabins has a picnic table, and a small (fireplace?) either next to the cabin, or behind the cabin.

Here is the one behind Cabin #3

* There is a Grocery Store in town, in the form of "A G Duckett's Market". We happened to park directly in front of it when we went to dinner in town.
We didn't go in to see what they had available, but it appears they would have most items that one could want.

* They have a 24-hour Guest Laundry.

* They do have a "Central" community fire-pit, but it is not very large. I think we could pull some chairs around it though, and fit a bunch of us there.
The community gas grill is also next to the fire-pit, which is next to their hot-tubs. They got rid of their one large hot tub, and put in two smaller new ones.

The Guest Showers/Restrooms are on the back-side of the "Jeep Rental" office. (shown here just behind the Hot-tubs)
I believe there are (4) shower stalls, and (4) toilet stalls in each one. (at least in the Men's side there are)

They are "Cap'n Approved"

This is Cabin #4
It happens to be right next to the "Community Fire/BBQ/Hot-tub area".
If anyone happens to choose Cabin #4, be prepared that it might be a little noisy into the later hours of the evening if you are the "Early-to-bed" type.  :pardon:
(I only hope that someone from our group gets it, and it's not a quiet family hoping to have peaceful evenings)

Cabins #1 and #2 are tucked back in the corner, behind the Motel and Guest Laundry.

Here's the "Imogene" Cabin, and Cabin #3

The "Black Bear" Cabin.(which I have reserved)

Cabin #5, Black bear, and Cabin #3

Cabin #5

Cabins #6 and #7 (in the corner)

Cabins #10,9,8,7 and 6.

Cabins 10, 9, 8

There is Charcoal grills at each cabin also.

Here's a couple shots of the 2-story Motel.

* Another thing to note: They have Free WiFi, however like most campgrounds that offer it, the farther away from the main building you are, the worse the signal gets.
I couldn't get a very good signal from Cabin #8

* Also, Cap'nRon and I noticed that the evening staff was very courteous and accommodating, and rather "Friendly"

Here's a few shots from in town.
There are plenty of Pubs, Saloons, and Cafes, so if you are the "Eat in Town" type, there is much to choose from.

There's some other interesting things to do in town also:

There's a Mine Tour (with ties to my home-city in NY)
http://bachelorsyracusemine.com/

Box Canyon Falls Hike.
http://www.ouraycolorado.com/things-to-do/box-canon-falls

Anyway, that's all I can think of for details for now.
If I come across anything else, I'll post it up.

Putting this on my calendar, at least tentatively...

Hey Randy I'm going for sure. Unless something happens, like what kept me from going to Telico this year. Will be taking the trailer and my ATV.  If it's not totalled.  Maybe you could hitch a ride with me.
