Start making your summer plans for next year folks. The 2016 Colorado Rally is on!  :yahoo:

It is going to be held the week following the West Coast Rally, for those of you who want to attend both in one shot.
The dates are June 8th through June 11th 2016.

It will take place in beautiful Ouray Colorado, in the heart of the spectacular San Juan Mountains.

Lodging has been arranged at the Riverside Inn and Cabins.
http://www.ourayriversideinn.com/
800-432-4170, or (970)325-4061

It is located at the north end of town on Highway 550.

They offer a whole range of accommodations to suit most everyone's needs or budget.

From (KOA style) camping Cabins.
They have (9) of these.

There is a Deluxe, fully equipped Cabin available.

They also offer (19) various Motel Rooms, including some fully equipped, multi-room Suites.

***There is a disclaimer on the pricing. Their rates are going to increase slightly for the 2016 season. Possibly $5-$10 per night. The exact rate won't be available until January 1st.***

The good news, is that the week that was chosen for the Rally is considered their "Mid-Season", so the rates are slightly cheaper.

Reservation Procedure:

*From NOW until January 1st, when you call, you are making a "Tentative Reservation" (they normally do not start taking reservations for the season until January 1st)

*When you call to reserve whatever room or cabin you would like, tell them you are with the "FJ Owners Motorcycle Group"
(You might have to remind them that Alan Humes set it up. There are quite a few people who answer the phone, and they may not all know about it yet. I already have my cabin reservation in place)

*After January 1st, they will contact you to "Confirm" your reservation. This is when you will be notified of the exact nightly rate of your room or cabin.

*Reservations are secured with a credit card number, however they do not charge your card until you arrive for your stay. (if you do not show up, you will be charged also)

*If you are reserving a room or a cabin for (5) or more nights, they require a (Non refundable) 50% deposit, which they will collect after January 1st.

Those are the details, so start calling to make your reservation as soon as possible. Don't Miss Out!
(as of Friday, they didn't have any tentative reservations scheduled for that week)

Here's a little more information about their place that I would consider mandatory:

*Check-In time is 3:00pm

*Check-Out time is 11:00am

*There are fire-rings/fireplaces at the cabins, as well as a "Central" fire-pit (I made it clear to them, that in the evenings we like to gather around a centrally located camp-fire)
I am going to work on securing firewood for the Rally week.  :good:

*There are charcoal grills and picnic tables at the cabins, as well as a centrally located BBQ grill.

*They have a huge outdoor Hot-Tub.

*They also sell Fuel on the premises, and have a convenience store, and a car-wash on site.

OK, now with all that out of the way, here's just a few of the highlighted roads that are in the area.(after all, we came to ride didn't we?) :good2:

Highway (92), The  Spectacular "Black Canyon"

Highway (141) along the Dolores River.

And the Legendary (550) "Million Dollar Highway"

The little town of Ouray, dubbed the "Switzerland of America", nestled in the mountains offers something for everyone!
With it's many shops, restaurants, spectacular scenery, and area attractions to explore, no-one will leave disappointed.

So mark your Calendars! June 8th-11th
Call and get your name on the reservation list!
and
Come to Colorado!
Join us for the 2016 Colorado FJ Rally! It's going to be a blast!  :bomb:

Nice job on the preparations. At this time, I would definitely be classified as tenative.

What is the weather potentially like for that elevation, at that time of year? I've only been to Colorado for skiing in the winter.

Wow, how do you top that!

I'm afraid that weekend doesn't work for me.

Seriously, that is beautiful country and I'll bet the roads are great too.

So is the official rally 3 nights (checkout the 11th), or 4 (checkout the 12th)?

I would have no problem (actually prefer week days) with the 11th 3 night it's always better not to have the weekend people on the roads etc. In the way. But I reserved sat night just in case. Can cancel sat night a month out.

Ouray itself is at an elevation around 7,800 feet above sea level.

I did a bunch of research on this part of the state.
One of the things I looked at closely was Climate.

Ouray was actually not listed, but I looked at all the surrounding area, and took note of where the ride routes would be.

Durango and Placerville didn't show any precipitation data, but I am certain they are similar.

All of these locations show that June is their lowest precipitation month, so I took that into account also when choosing the dates.  :good:

With daytime temps in the mid-70s to mid-80s, it should make for some comfortable riding in the early part of June. :good2:

So is the official rally 3 nights (checkout the 11th), or 4 (checkout the 12th)?

Most everyone would be staying through Saturday night, and departing on the 12th. (Myself included)

When posting the dates, I listed it as the Rally ride days.

I am planning to arrive on Tuesday afternoon, ride (and party) Wednesday-Saturday.  :drinks:

It's beautiful riding, that's for sure, but really keep your wits about you on that 'Black Canyon of the Gunnison" road, I have never seen so many deer on any other road in the U.S.
