New tires

Finally got rid of the very, very, very old Metzlers and put on a set of Avon radials. '87 with the original 16 inch wheels. I choose the Avons because of the tire discussions on this forum. It sure does ride a whole lot smoother now! That bead on the rear tire was a bitch to break!

I really liked the Avons when I had 16" wheels. Keep them towards the high end of the pressure range. They never let me down. Happy riding...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Yep...I run Metzeler ME880 tires for long mileage touring and they are heavy and stiff!  Even the Pirelli Sport Demons are a bit of work to mount and demount.  After doing those, I can mount Avons by hand! :good2:

Might not have been so bad if they weren't on there for so long. Definitely easier to get the new Avon on than the old Metzler off!
