Bar risers?

Not sure where to post this, but does anyone make taller handlebars for the FJ1100?
I could grow to like this bike with taller bars and maybe a taller seat.
I'm old and would like a more upright riding position.

Any suggestions?

I have had a set for a few years. They work very well.

You also have the option to use a one piece tubular bar with this adaptor.

There have been a few owners that have had additional foam added to the OEM or Corbin seat.

For a taller seat you have a few options. Have the seat recovered after adding more foam to raise it up. I had this done on my Corbin seat before I bought my '89 so it matches my '86... See image below. Or get lower foot pegs, Avationfred and a few others have lowered them with success.

The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I really like the idea of lower pegs, that makes a lot of sense.

That is what I would like I think. That opens it up to put any bar on I want.

I do like the way the FJ runs and it is quite easy to work on.
I am just not happy with the seating position.
Not sure I want to spend a lot of money on modifications I am not sure will work for me.

If you do go the handlebar route, you will find your throttle cables to be too short.
They are fine with the RPM spacers, but not fine with the wider bars.

A call into Motion Pro will correct that. They have the FJ's oem cable specifications on file. Just ask them to make you a set of push/pull cables 2" longer than stock.

Not applicable to your case, but those late model FJ's that are one piece cables (they do not have the splitter box) you will have to send your cables into Motion Pro. They reuse the oem cable radius bends on the longer cables.

I did the bar conversion on my '84 and I enjoy the comfort.
I also did the Buell 1.5" lower footpegs which really makes a difference on my 62 year old knees.

Those foot pegs look pretty nice and the info on the cables will come in handy also.

After looking at the pictures of the peg lowering kits and the kits to install regular handlebars I have decided to try fabricating my own.
I have purchased 2 top triple clamps and a set of foot pegs off ebay.
I also bought this set of bar clamps.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/151646730340?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
The triple clamps are plenty thick heavy enough that I should be able to drill through them and install the clamps.
I also have a set of Honda CR high bend fat bars coming.
I am going to take off the originals and save them incase I screw this up.
Anyway, I will keep you all posted on how it turns out.

The fat bars are 1 1/8th inch at the clamps but they are 7/8" at the ends.  They are made for dirt bike applications to be extra strong and no need for the cross bar on most other bars.
