I got the kit direct from Spielgerusa.  The guy's name is Scott, it cost a little over $300 with shipping and bolted right on to the original upper triple clamp using the big black nut  :shok: and the two smaller bolts that locate the original handle bars. No drilling. Excellent piece of hardware.  I filled the aluminum bar with #6 lead shot to dampen vibes.

Willits, CA is 1150 miles one way for me. I live in western Colorado. I have the week off by coincidence but would have to do the trip home in one day. Leaving the bike in storage and flying home may be possible as I have 2 weeks scheduled in Sept. that was for a ride to SF and down the coast as far as time would allow.

You guys should come here. We have the some of the best roads for M/C riding anywhere. Not to mention dirt bike trails. We ride right out of the driveway to the White River Nat. forest about 10 miles away.

Very nice.  I like the screen.  Is that an 'Eagle' brand screen?  I've got a similar screen but shaded dark.  It's OK and works very well, however the clear screen like you have seems to keep the bikes's 'swept back' appearance which I think looks better.  Anyway, nice job and good luck with the warm weather.  25 degrees F h and 20" of snow here.

There was a Central Rally in Gunnison back in 2005.

It is from Gustaffson plastics. The fit is very poor and it required a little Dremel time. If it lasts for a couple summers I'd be thrilled.

Missed out on the Gunnison rally. Bummer.  I recognize most of the roads. Great place to be, right in the thick of it here.  I enjoy riding CO,WY,MT,UT and the Black Hills of South Dakota. The PCH is calling though. I frickin love California.

That's doable. I bet our FJ bros. in the Sacramento area would help you store your FJ and you could fly home via Sacramento.
Paul and I did the Willits to Palm Desert run (via Hwy.395) in one day, one long ass fuckin day, 810 miles, never again. I'm getting to old for that shit.
The Run to the Drum in Gunnison Co. was a bitchen rally.....see the videos....

You have make it to at least one WCR, if for no other reason is to ride SKAGGS SPRINGS Rd. PCH has nothing on it. I think the engineers at Yamaha design the FJ with that road in mind the bike sings when you take it on the high speed sweepers...its Nirvana

Ok I guess you can image what part of the rally I like the best.

But seeing Marsh having to wear this is close second

That is damned generous, thank you. I am working on it, and will post up if its a go.  Currently I'm working the angle of driving out in the 'burb with bike on trailer, ditching wife/kids in Napa area over the weekend during ride time, and taking the following week off too. What the hell.

Had to laugh yesterday. I'm so excited to have the FJ done that when I woke up Sat. morning first thing thru the brain fog was that since we have had enough days in the middle 30's the roads are dry enough for a quick loop.  :good2:

BUT, before the morning wood was gone, I heard the plow go by. :dash2: Snowed 4 inches overnight. lol

The upside of the weekend however is the wife is gone for 4 days AND I repaired the garage heater gas valve without getting burned very bad, SO, I can get my freak on without worry. Garage rat glory.

Finally got in a quick ride  :yahoo:

Zero problems, nice clean smooth idle, the fork was so much better it felt like a different, um, fork.  The handle bar was money well spent, and my first ever grip heaters are awesome.  The brake pads felt seated immediately, but will probably get even better.

The roll on acceleration kicks ass.  My wife's 9500ix will be going missing out shortly, and/or I'll be in deep shit.

The local police pretended not to notice that the plate was 2 years expired.
