First off...I love my '84, for all the reasons listed. I think it is one of the most beautiful motorcycles made.
I have no problem putting bags on her and taking off on a 5,000 mile tour. e.g. WCR/Central Rally trip.
Even with the help of Vibranators (and they do help)  the bike has some buzz, not bad, but still there. Obviously not enough to keep me home.

But, I have to agree with Noel on this one.
My previous '92 (with oem rubber mounts) was much smoother than my '84. Just a fact.
If I hadn't fallen in love in 1984 with my FJ, with what I know today, my choice would be the smoother '91-93 FJ's.

Still, that '84....wow. You know how you can tell?
When you park your bike and walk away, do you turn around and look at her?
If you do, you know what I'm talking about.

If you want vibration ride my XS650.

I should add that my stable also includes an '08 Ducati Hypermotard (1100cc L-twin that defines vibration) and the '79 Yamaha RD400 (like riding with a chainsaw between your legs)...  could be I'm numb to vibrations at this point.  Maybe I should give HD another shot   :wacko1:

What Pat said!  I had a choice and decided to keep my '85 over the '93.   It was tough, but the '85 was my first FJ love.

I rode it over 1100 miles in 3 days in Arkansas last month and the vibes were not a problem.

I'm about 25 miles from the one in Bend.

I would be happy to give it a look, take some pics and video for you (after you talk to the owner and determine that it is a viable candidate).

I would also be happy to pick you up at the Redmond airport, put you up for a night and drive you to pick it up.

If you want it and can't get here. Send me the money, I'll pick it up and store it for you in my garage until you can make it down.

I vote this option - with a ride report on the trip!

I was all for that option as well! Unfortunately, he went and looked at the bike for me, sent me some pics, and the bike is pretty rough, definitely overpriced. I want to start my FJ career with something a little nicer.

That's unfortunate - but not all that surprising considering we are talking about machines manufactured at least 22 years ago or as much as 31 years ago.
