Two or three front brake lines...???

Hey folks,

For those of you that have replaced your rubber hoses with SS hoses did you switch to a two line setup and take the splitter right out of the equation?

If so, any pictures of the routing?

I use the 2 line set up. As for routing, I just routed them straight to each caliper and run them through the OEM cabal stay that attaches to the top of the OEM fork brace. I use one on each side.

I'm not the fastest FJ rider, I am 'half-fast', the fastest slow guy....

Stubbornly keeping my ABS setup, I have to deal with six soft lines, two hard lines and a splitter for the front brakes.  This makes bleeding a major pain and an exercise in patience and tenacity.  Part of the issue with this, short of the sheer quantity of fluid involved is every junction in the run has the ability to trap bubbles of air in all the little nooks.

If I had an FJ without ABS, there is no doubt I would switch over to a simple two-line setup eliminating the splitter as a potential air bubble trap.  Double banjos on the master and a simple run right to each caliper.   :good2:

2 lines for me. 
Saved the cost of the 3rd line and allowed me to remove the splitter and use the banjo bolt for the master.

This is the routing I took when I fitted mine, pretty straight forward to fit. it's a Galfer kit from eBay apparently made for the bike with one line a bit longer than the other, fitted the longer line to the left caliper as its that bit further away from the master and allows for turning without binding.

Just my 2¢ here, but your Wolo horn is upside down in this pic.  I'd guess that horn aims straight into the rear of your headlight, not out/down/forward.  I'm sure you hear it fine, but how about offending drivers?

I wanted to fit it so the compressor was straight up and down and trumpets facing down but it wouldn't fit Ed, as it was I had to make a bracket up to fit it like that. As for hearing it, ask the blokes at work who I sneak up behind when walking and give em a blast. :biggrin:

Tony, if you're a stubborn bastard with three hands, a day to spare, a welder to fab up a bracket and a cigarette paper for measuring clearances, it can be done.
