fj11 00 gas cap latch or latches?

Hi to all.
I am trying to purchase a replacement cap for my 84. The vendor says that only one side latches, but I think both sides are supposed to.
Can someone who knows let me know?

You are correct. There are 2 latches.
12 o'clock being straight forward, 1 latch is at 9 o'clock and the second latch is at 3 o'clock.

'84/85 gas caps are rare. If you have a vendor who might have a cap that fits the '84/85 tanks even if it has only 1 latch, it would be worth checking out.
