I dropped my arm to the side to acknowledge a gaggle of cruisers coming the opposite way on a country two lane. All of them bunched up way to close to each other of course. Of all 5 who gave a "wave" back, the last one immediately was losing control of the bike and wobbling towards the gravel shoulder, so she grabbed the handlebar as fast as she could, LOL. I was laughing under my helmet but it could have ended badly.

Geez, don't put that kind of responsibility on me.

I think it's the best thing to come of riding on the American right as opposed to the Brit left. You can get a really good wave in without chopping the throttle. I practice mine whenever I can.

I wave to other riders when possible. The funny thing is, I get different responses depending on which bike I'm ridding.

On Sunday i had my shiny cb750 parked on the side of the road and 2 harleys went past.

The 1st one looked at it then immediately unlooked at it by snapping his head the other way

and his riding buddy looked at it with only his eyes not moving his head.

I try to wave to all riders, except Harvey riders. I even wave to scooter and dirt bike riders. Just never harley riders.
They have a whole ideology thing going on, bugger 'em.

Ironic as most parts of their bikes are made in Japan or Germany.

You are missing the point... Wave, often, every chance you have... You have the upper hand, what could possibly go wrong!!!!

I know, you are right about taking the high road... but I still find it impossible considering harley riders are so ideologically against me being a "proper" rider on my rice burner.

Why would I be friendly to someone who is convinced I am going to hell and deserve no more than a dog for example.  My being friendly will never change their view, just convince them I am trying to get in the good books. 
I respectfully decline...but I still wave to all other two wheelers.
