Hello all,

Haven't been around much lately; just been busy with other stuff.

Since in younger days I spent winters in MD and MO I can sympathize with the snow-bound Easterners. Therefore it is only with the slightest tinge of smugness that I present the following bit of virtual canyon carving from my 75*F ride today to help relieve the winter blues...

When we say we're heading for the hills, you can believe it!

The road starts to get interesting...

On the way up, this is a rather wicked uphill right-hander.

Who says there aren't any decreasing-radius corners in California? Viewed from above, the kink is clearly visible.

The same corner on the downhill side becomes a sharp left that opens up nicely.

Exiting that corner going up...

You can see a bit farther from the other side of the pavement.

A bit of where we've been.

At last a stretch of downhill!

Getting close to the top.

Your reward for reaching the top, a view of Acton.

Whichever way you look...

...more corners!

On the way back...

...long stretches of downhill ahead!

As the sun sinks slowly in the west, let us bid a fond farewell to sunny SoCal!

What a great ride!!
The pic "more corners" is outstanding
The other are just excellent :pardon:
I've often been asked, 'What do you old folks do now that you're retired'?

"Well. I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background, and one of the things I enjoy most is turning beer, wine, Scotch, and margaritas into urine."

Thanks, waricle!
I'm guessing simple envy has locked up the keyboards of other viewers.

Alas, such weekday jaunts will soon be but a memory for me as well, as I must regretfully confront the inevitable.

LOL that "almost" looks like a decreasing radius corner (snork)

I'm happy to see someone is out riding though... looked like a great day and a fine road for it!

I've been a big puss with the cold weather we have been having.... i have heated gear but the roads are so cold any wetness on the road is instant skating and that aint fun.

That being said spring aint that far off...

Ride on brother!  :good2:

KOokaloo!

We're in the middle of our Aussie summer here.
The bush fires will stop once the kids go back to school.
I lived in New Zealand and owned a bike- rode it twice in two years.
I can relate to the black ice.

Thanks, all!

Trees? Aren't those those big, hard things that hurt when you hit 'em? And don't they put those nasty wet leaves on the pavement to try to make you hit them, and harbor furry little critters that are surprisingly slippery when squished? We don' need no steenking TREES!

Yes, rides happen when weather, schedule and motivation are all in alignment. We had about 10 days of unusually warm, clear weather even for here this time of year, and I managed to get out on the bike twice duing that window.  Too bad air-freighting my FJ to Oz is so pricey...

Very nice trip. I really like that area of California. An interesting bit of movie trivia; part of the movie "Duel" was shot in that area. For those of you too young to remember, it was a man vs. man, truck chases car movie. Well worth watching if you've never seen it.

Yes, now back to normal for this time of year. Why,  I remember in the Great Flood of '78...

But that stretch of weather was quite nice while it lasted... and we're still 15-20* warmer than you!

I just figured everyone would enjoy seeing some tasty pics of curvy macadam (not to be confused with Curvy MacAdam "now appearing at the Jiggly Room... 4 shows nightly" - this is not the site for her, unless she owns or passengers ...or ever did a photo shoot on ... an FJ )

Looks like we're also getting 15-20" less rain this week, too.      :boredom:

They are nice pics, hope to get out there and ride it soon.

Where are the trees?

Here are some! Note also the rain splashing the pavement - I was in my Toyota today!
