just wondering if i'm the only one left riding an original fj1200? lol all these mods and new shocks and this and that.... chuckles.. i like the kicks up the arse, the vague and wobbly front end, the " no im not going to do what you ask " usually mid corner... its great.!!!
was just curious :mail1:

Just picked my '86 up a month or so ago and except for the 4 into 1 exhaust, I think it's stock.  I know it doesn't have any of the mods discussed here.  It is very likely to stay stock

what sort of four into one? i seem to remeber from somewhere that transac  do a straight bolt on kit know of one that was on a 750 katana ( pop up headlight job....man do i want one of them one day!!!) just curious cos i cannae be arsed trying to rejet, but at the same time its not an urgent issue i like my 2 into ones ( the original pipes... love the black chromey type look)

Yes Neil....I have a Tranzac 4-1 on my '91......the old ally can was cactus and has been replaced with a Micron can.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.

Yep my 85 is stock except for a tinted windscreen & no chin fairing. Sometimes I think about some mods, but I kinda like em as close to original as they can be

I used to think that way too.  I wanted to keep it stock just because.  Ride a later model or put an 89+ front wheel on your '85 and you drop that attitude like a bad habit.  It's amazing what a few inexpensive mods can do to transform your FJ.

My FJ looked (and still does) like it was just ridden off of the showroom floor.  The mods make it even better.

Let's see some pictures of those stock bikes!   This thread is in desperate need of some pictures!

I can appreciate the stock FJ for what it is........ a damn fine motorcycle.

I love my FJ but i am alive and riding it in 2010.... Times have changed several times in the last 24 years and in order for my 24 year old motorcycle to keep on giving to me in the same vein as what i think Yamaha engineers intended i was "forced" to modify it...... REALLY! It was either modify or replace it with something newer..... and honestly there is nothing out there that stirs my soul like my "old" FJ  (thats my story and i'm sticking with it  :sorry: )

slap fresh paint on some beater bodywork ...

for taking me places like this.....

My FJ asks nothing but to transport me in comfort, safety and style! (and i still have all my original beautiful stock 1986 bodywork put away for a very rainy day)

For all the fun i have had on my FJ the least i could do was give her a upgrade or two  :good2:

Oh Frank you are so right..... But I agree this thread is in need of some photo's and David R's bikes are the cleanest and best running FJ's on the planet... Here's another version of upgrades..
