If your FJ came with a 17" front wheel, they are a direct bolt on.

I don't know if the '06-09 FZ1 m/c are 14mm.....I do know the FZ1 '01-02 are (14mm) and I have those on 3 bikes and they work bitchen.

Looking at the online microfische: http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/yamaha/YP-5DM-W2587-01-00.html
I see the '03-06 FZ1 m/c are also on the '03 FJR1300 so they may be a 15mm piston in the m/c

Your 5/8"oem m/c is equivalent to a 16mm, so a 15mm will be a bit better, but a 14mm will be better still.

14mm m/c IMHO work best with the blue spots. Although I have not tried the Nissin radial m/c

The Arashi (cheap Chinese) rotors seem to work really well. I installed a set in May of 2012 and put over 17 thousand miles on them with no issues. Several other members are also using them with good results.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Pat, I run the brembo radial maaster off of an R1 (same as 05+ R6) on my YZF600 mated to 01 R6 calipers (blue dot).

Comparing the radial (16iirc)cbrembo to the14mm master I ran before I noted similar if not slightly improved power, less (no) fade and greatly increased feel. I tend to ride the front wheel of a bike and trail break heavily.

With the 14mm masters I would get fade on a long hard run and it was difficult to 'feel' what the front wheel was doing on long fast sweepers. with the radial I get no fade and I cn pretty much tell you what quarry the aggregate in the pavement came from....

The 5/8 master that was stock on my YZF mated to the blue dots was terrible. It basically felt like I was squeezing wood blocks. The brakes had plenty power, but absolutely no feel. There were several cases where I slipped the front wheel on corner entry because I could not feel what was going on until too late.

I bought the whole front brake system from a 2005 FJR 1300, the master cylinder is a 14 mm. I have no complaints with the performance of the front brakes with OEM pads.

Just when I think I'm done modifying this bike..... :diablo:

Thank you Bill, that's right in line with what I've heard of other folks saying on radial vs axial m/c's

Good morning,

Bill (the fan) garners a lot of respect for both his mechanical knowledge and riding ability.  And yes Pat, another safety oriented mod does sound pretty good...

So.... I ordered the Nissin radial m/c from RPM yesterday and it looks as if will arrive today - I will make the installation by the weekend  - should there be a marked improvement I will write down the particulars and post them when I have put a few miles on them.

Ride safe,

Midget

The same supplier? Do your warped rotors have the "Arashi" logo/name on them? Many of us want to know, we are using them..... Maybe Arashi now has knock-off parts, but we need to start somewhere....

Do you know how the your rotors warped?

Don't count on the calipers removing the pulses....assuming your rim is straight, then it's the rotors.
