Another part of the mirrors roughing out stage on the mill and another view of the front with headlight just placed into position and the dark screen. Not sure about screens I have this one and a iridium screen, will take photos of both and put them to the vote.

Well spotted Harvy it is indeed, it is another of my projects I wanted to make a copper but with an alternative v twin hence the Ducati. I have made the swing arm to take a 10.5 inch wide rear wheel that has a 310 tyre fitted the front end I am making a springer set up for it. Work kind of got put on the back burner when the FJ arrived, that's not such a bad thing because it gives me time to think about other mods that would suit a Ducati Monster Chopper      (DMC just realised)

FJ is going well just invested in a 25l parts wash for on the bench, works well. So back to the build, I am making my own mirror bases and stems / arms but can't find any nice mirror heads to go with them, I did see on ebay a while ago some mirror plastic sheet approx A4 you cut to fit! Might have to find something like and make my own mirror heads.

On with the build but took time out from the headache stuff and started a bit of polishing, these were so bad I had to start with 120g on the sander! then 240g and 400g onto the buff. They still need more work but it's a start. Then we have a photo of my trusty buff  it's just a 3/4hp motor with a pigtail on it but it works, just clamp it in the vice and way to go. The last photo are the Michelin tyres for the FJ, can't wait to try them out on the open road.  Next I will get some photos of mirrors so far but do I like them ...

The mirrors, they need more polishing but that can be done when all the machining work has bee done.

Just found these photos of the Monster just before the FJ was put up on the work bench.  Poor old Monster kicked of and work stopped ..... but not for too much longer   (I hope)

I'm a burnt-out computer guy who's now working in a machine shop environment. (fish outta water, certainly) Lots of things new to me that many old-timers to the trade take for granted. I stand in awe of the beauty and magic that can be performed by an expert.

Today it was time to look at the exhaust, the originals had seen better days (years) so when these come along for £50 I just had to have them. After a few cuts grinds and a bit of mig they fit, my only concern is they might be a bit quiet but that can be put right after no problem. Did a bit more work to the rims as well so they are ready for paint, they will be polished with gold centers to match the forks. At the same time of painting the wheels I will do the plastics as well then I can clear coat all parts together.

Started to think about the paint today and what graphics to put on to brake up the block colour and add a bit of interest. The main colour is to be Triumph Pimento Red, It's a colour that goes back to the seventies and it's the colour I painted my Ford Pop (will find a photo).  So back to the FJ the bits that are red in the photo are going to be gold like the front forks, the wheels have polished rims & centre rib but the rest will be painted the same gold.  In the last photo just looking to see how the side plate clears exhaust and things.
