Well, the way i see it I'd rather be bare assed like a babe
than limit my learning.

Mostly i want to get in there and fiddle with stuff but the books are smart.
And i need a second bike & a garage to really do that.
By not using the search function, you are limiting your learning. BIG TIME!!!!! By using one of the best tools of the forum, you will learn more faster than you can asking questions. Go there first and check the files section. The time spent asking questions is better spent reading the answers you are looking for.

Have to agree the search function is your friend for most things FJ related on here. From what I see people are happy to answer questions but can resent answering multiple questions that seem to show little in the way of initiative.

In other words, I would advise finding out stuff for yourself, both on here and elsewhere, and maybe ask only the important questions you really need to ask on here - otherwise people will assume you are a wind up merchant...even if that is untrue.

Just my thoughts..  :shok:  :good2:

Heard. I'll try some hunting when questions arise.
Like burnt oil. I recall someone saying rejetting will help the motor run at lower temps.

It depends on where the jetting is now. Richer "more fuel" runs cooler. My suggeston for you is in the files section. Look up carb cleaning and follow those instructions. Order from RPM the O ring and screw kit. This is where your problems are most likely to be. Don't worry about jetting until after is is running correctly.

I think you need to cut down on the drinking.

Or at least don't ask questions when drinking.

Thanks Kurt.
Im currently browsing "Carb cleaning by Dave Raforth" in the archives.
I bought anf installed Randys ORing kit awhile back (maybe 6months) but im planning another cleaning soon. Will probably run Seafoam once or twice when i find the shop time.

Currently my machine is at factory settings.
Its developed a faint putter at idle & i want to get everything sorted and probably rejetted before i develop any detonation problems. Still planning on having the piston seals replaced but thats my nestegg project - funds are always limited.

Randy,

Do you sell the little oclamp for the linkage between the petcock & fuel filter?

There are two. The clamp fitted to the filter is properly sized but the clamp fitted to the petcock is too large. Idk what size to buy & i cant afford a parts manual atm (sorry  :sorry: ) but i was reading up on safetywiring 80s models & while that tube breaking loose is unlikely the rubber mount for my fuel filter is nearly wasted.

If this is a question for RPM Randy you might want to send him an email, he hasn't been logged onto the forum for months now. If it is for the other Randy I dont think he is around much either anymore
