Welcome to the group.
Plenty of us Aussie FJ owners on here. We all love to swap info and stories of our rides and there are plenty of Mod tips (although it sound like you might have that sorted) Where abouts in this great land of Australia (might be a few FJ'ers near you)are you? Would love to see some pics

Mark
Thanks Mark, I'm 3 1/2 hours North of Sydney, I'm sure there's some FJ owners around, I have spoken to one older bloke near me with a stock FJ1200 but haven't seen any 84 models

Hi all, not sure if I'm posting in the right place,
I wanted to introduce myself and say a Big Hi to all,
I purchased a new FJ1100 from Brian Collins Motorcycles in 1984,
I payed $3,450 straight out of the crate, they told me I got the first one in NSW Australia, They gave me two Arai Helmets as a gift for the purchase, prior to owning my new FJ1100 I owned many bikes but learnt on a TX500 which I also purchased new, I love long rides, I have ridden many different bikes Kwakka 9's K1 750's
Katana's and recently a ZX14 Ninja, but have gone back to an 84 FJ1100, there is just something about the FJ that suits me, being 5ft 9 and 80kls and a crook back the FJ fits me and I fit it, my current FJ1100 is now 1.31 litre
and the difference from the standard 1100 is the gobs of torque right throughout the rev range and that suits me perfectly where I live it's twisty and hilly rides and the FJ just eats it up without breaking a sweat,
but about me I'm 56 and been riding since I was a kid, I've been riding on the road since I got my TX500 in 1974 my god that's 40 years:/ and like the FJ I still feel I've got plenty left in me,

Ye Old FJ1100 now FJ1315 with a pic of me out bush and some Dyno Sheets and Engine Specs, Someone on here will most likely know this bike,

Welcome to the forum  :hi: Great story with having the very first FJ1100 in the country. That is awesome :drinks:

You just missed this years Australia FJ rally. It is held every March.

The Australian bunch are a great group of guys. They are very active with their FJ's. Regular managed days, meeting up for coffee and generally getting together for spontaneous rides.

Well if you decide to make your way over to the USA........make a point of coming up this way to Canada and pay us a visit too....we're cousins you know.....  :drinks:

PS.......you'll love this story....when I came into Australia.....all the boys were warning me homeland security and how the boys in blue at the border take their jobs quite seriously !!!! I am a bit of a joker (putting it mildly) so the mates are all cautioning me and my mouth....anyways...I get to the customs line and walk up to the officer......starts a barage of questions......finally he asks me if had a criminal record? My mouth dropped....I looked a bit shocked and waited for the room to get quiet......at which point I replied...." I didn't think I needed one to get in here anymore" !! well the place erupted and even the officer couldn't help laughing....

Hey TimelessFJ (do you have a real name, or will "old man" do?)
some of us riders to the north of you were thinking of doing some riding in the near future (date to be fixed) in the Coffs/Grafton/Tenterfield area. You are most welcome to join us when we get our shit together. We also try and arrange a shed day a few times a year (you input would be welcome)

Here is a pick of my '84 taken on a recent 1600km (in one weekend) jaunt. Keep the rubber down  :drinks:

That is funny, you probably would have been let in even if you did have a record everyone seems to get in here lately, lol,
where I live the countryside reminds me of Canada without snow, my local service station is run by a Canadian Woman and she likes it here as well, but if I'm ever fortunate enough to get over that way I deffinatly let you show me around

I don't mind old man the kids call me that ;( but my name is Greg, I might get up that way one day, it's nice country around Tentafield, I would like that very much, I could do 1600k's in my hay day I don't know if my old bones would hold up, but I guess it depends how fast you cover them, My personal favorite is the 84, I like how you can look through the corners and the bike seems to follow, I don't know if it's the 16 inch front or not, I haven't ridden an FJ with a bigger wheel

Thanks for the welcome Fred, I know I just missed out, I'm going to try and get about a bit more and hopefully meet up with some FJ owners up my way, I should have everything I need to go for a good ride by the time the next rally comes around, I gave all my gear away years ago, I'm in the process of getting my act together, well some gear anyway Fred

Wow, great story. Just think if you still had your original '84 FJ, what an absolute talking point it would be. I think there are a couple of members here who have had theirs since new (can't remember who exactly), but throw up some pics of your current bike, we love pics  :good2:
I missed my FJ ever since I sold it, I was the proudest dude about back then, the cops would pull me over just so they could take a look at my bike lol, I only sold it because I was young and stupid, now I'm old and stupid but I'm hanging into this old girl

G'day Greg, welcome to the forum, anything you want to know about the FJ just ask, its amazing at times the different things that some people on here know and are willing to share.

Impressive dyno sheets,  :good2: those figures would embarrass many a modern bike, and out of curiosity, have you done that yet. These things are top gear roll on kings standard, more so with those figures.
