I recently purchased a 1986 FJ1200 and it came with a Delkevic exhaust, collector and mufflers installed. Is there supposed to be a support strap on the muffler for the frame?

I can post some close ups if needed.

There should be a strap that clamps around the exhaust and bolts on near the passenger footrest AFAIK.
The attached image is of an 89 but I think they use a similar mount?
ATGATT - Murphy's law says if you've got the right gear you might not need it, but if you don't you will !!!!!!!!

Hi Baja

Very similar to Vance's 89.The strap mounting point is just in front of the rear footpeg.
I am curious to how yours are installed if not mounted  there?

Hope this helps.

I guess I will be calling Delkevic to see if they can supply the exhaust support strap. As mine is missing.

Also I went to install the centre stand as well today, noticed that it won't go back in without grinding off some of the stand that you use your foot on. Anyone else with Delkevic exhaust on a FJ1200 1986? or other years that have had to make mods?

Also looks as though I will have to mod the chin scoop as the headers are touching or nearly touching it.

Some pics attached.

I had to modify my centre stand a bit to get ground clearance by hitting it with the oxy  and bending the foot arm.

See this similar thread.

Which model exhaust works for the '86 fj1200? Mount forward to the rear peg. I see models for fh1100 & fj1200 '88+, but nothing listed for
86 & 87.

Thanks AJ

Hi 2Dirty.

I would say the system for the 1100 might be a better fit as the foot peg brackets are the same as the 86.
When I first got my 86 it had a stock 1100 system on it.
Currently it has stock FJ polished 89 headers, delkevic collector, and delkevic tri oval cans and mid pipes for an 89.
As mentioned in previous post , there are some clearance issues with the centre stand.

Hope this helps.
