Went and got a educated look at my 87 today, she been living at a shop last 2 months waiting to be worked on :dash2:. Anyway noticed couple things clutch slave leaks...great and the front fork dampener is missing a brake line from the caliper. I'm assuming this has something to do with the anti dive. Would this mean they were modded or just disconnected, and is this a problem? Either way here's a pic of her.

We need more info to help you. The clutch slave just needs to be fixed. But regarding the AD unit and missing line. The lines can be removed to disable the AD units. I cannot disagree, I never felt mine worked. Any more pictures of what you found?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Sorry other pic was blurry. The slave cylinder and area around it is damp and paint is coming off so figure piston seal needs replacing. Pretty sure that's doable just unexpected. As for the forks I've built hydraulic cylinders before and the instructions on here are great, really wanted to know if they might have replaced emulator since AD was disconnected also do rpm emulators negate the dampener aka removed and blocked off.

You can bypass the AD units and install the RPM valves. Randy has done this on his bike so I know it can be done. A part of the AD unit will need to stay connected to prevent the fork oil from leaking out. But the extra brake lines can go away. Or you could use a block-off plate or upgrade to '89 plus forks. If you are on a tight budget then flip the AD units upside down, remove the part connected to the brake lines and get the RPM valves..... The front end handling has improved greatly since I made the change... But then I noticed how bad the rear was...

Selling a kidney to save the liver? There's always the Plasma Center...  :pardon:

Be careful, after your bike's up-and-running, you'll be looking for some of the goodies, like Givi stuff.

Yes, the red and White are reversed for the '87. Exact same bike....
