Hello out there

Hi to all in FJ land, My name is ruffy, and i just joined your group today. I've had my ride, a '84 model, with a metallic blue paint job for 3 years now, and she has performed faultlessly on all my rides, short and long distance. She was rough when i bought her, but i loved the style, then she was sitting on the centre stand and some how she fell over smashing the top fairing, grinding the clucth master cylinder cover awawy and cracking the R/H mirror.. I was shattered!,  the insurance guy didnt help much, but gave me a cheque and told to fix it myself. Well as you know parts a hard to find so the journey begins. I have the bike in the shop now to get minor engine work down, rings bearings valve stem seals down, but as my research continues i'm finding more and more custom jobs and street fighter look bikes out there and they look really great, So well done to those guys and girls, and may you welcome me to the ranks.

Welcome Ruffy,
You have come to the right place for all knowledge concerning the FJ series. As a matter of fact there was a guy on here from NC the other day trying to sell 3 early model rolling frames. Perhaps you could contact him for possible parts. Ebay is another good source for parts. I have always liked the 1100's and I hope you can get her back in the original body work, they just look so classic... Good luck and enjoy the ride...

Hey Guys, i was wondering with parts getting so hard to source, which other bikes i should be looking at to continue my upgrade? Any ideas? I've read through a few sections of the site and it seems FZR 1000 some parts are interchangable is there any other?

Hey Ruffy,

Most parts other than body parts are not too hard to get.  Yamaha is still making and selling the XJR in several markets and almost all the engine/tranny bits are the same.  The FJ can remain FJ for a long while yet.

Hi All,

Well back home off shift, 2 weeks away and i got the mod-itis bad, been scoping out websites and photos as to new ideas i can create for my beastie. Thinking gauges from a xjr1300, with twin headlights from cutom bike shop, and possibly custom metal front guard if mine can not be repaired, slight cracking along the joins. Waiting to see the spanner weilder to see how the engine rebuild is coming along and to also confirm some of the parts on the cycle. I will post some photos as i go as of the minute i have none.

I was checking through some bike websites and come across a site that sell aftermarket wheels for cruiser style bike and was wondering as to whether they would fit the '84 fj?

Hey Pat,

When the beatie had the fall a mate of mine actually found this site for me, and i must say the fairing does look really trick! The only prob was the company is in france( and i dont speak let alone type in French) but they also dont ship to the public and there was no distribtor in Australia which is a shame.
