Hello. I just stumbled upon the forum the other day. Back in the 80's, my dad and I had quite a few FJ's and did work on a lot more.

Pic from around 1986, of our personal bikes (me on the right, about 16):

Anyway, I am lurking around the board....and it seems to be a fine one. I'd like to find an extra-clean 1984-1986 bike, so will be keeping an eye out.

Welcome Shane, you will like it here. I am partial to the red/silver/white years myself. I have an '86 in need of repair. I plan to do a partial restoration if not full. Get yourself to a rally if you can, you don't need an FJ, some members here have not owned an FJ in many years. Show up on two wheels (three) or four, just show up and meet some of us crazy Kookalooigans. Where abouts are you?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I am in Virginia. I have some newer bikes, but my most vintage one is a 1989 V-Max that I picked up last year. I haven't ridden an FJ in perhaps 20 years!

Then you could make the east rallies if you like that kind of adventure. Some very clean looking '84/'87 FJs have been popping up lately. Keep the search up, you will find one (or 2) you like.

Looks like an '85 and 2 '86s?
Is that an Intercepter?

Super clean. Low miles and fair price. If I was looking for a red and white this one would be the one to get.  Dave

An '85, 2 86's, and an '86 600 Ninja (I got my license on that).

Definitely clean. I'm really looking for an '84-'86 bike, though, for now. Thanks for the link!

Just curious, why not an '87? Other than reversed colors it is the exact same bike as the '86.

One the venues that I race at has a class that only allows machines up to 1986. So, in case I want to one day race it there, I'd rather stick to no later than an '86.

That makes perfect sense, thanks.

Welcome Shane ! As you can see we are an active bunch ! Lots of FJ's still out there running strong.  I Pulled into Nellis AFB yesterday and low and behold parked right by the front door was a pristine 1989 FJ ! Met the owner and told him about fjowners.com, RPM,  and reviewed a bunch of pictures from my computer with him. Hope you locate an FJ soon. Riding season will be here sooner or later...

We came up with this back around '06-'07 - this one used to live on the Rally Drum:

And this one's for "What's the best oil..." :

We're not a club. Clubs have rules. Pay dues. Wear hats and shit.
