I just got my chin fairing repaired and would like what those in the know would recomend to insulate it with. I think I have the templates  that our( great) power ranger posted a while back. Also what would you use for an adhesive. Big R Please excuse my grammer

The material that you use will decide the adhesive that will adhere to it. But it will need to deal with temps equal to or higher than the melting point of the ABS plastic. So if you pick a glue or bonding material it should withstand 90C or 194F, at this temp it will melt your lower fairing. So any higher would be pointless. I think someone posted up some good insulating stuff they found at Home Depot. If so then it will be easy to find at most large DIY chain stores.

And the credit for creating the template(s) belongs to Gary Mastro, I just scanned them and posted them. Simi_Ed gave them to me to post up. So it was a group effort.  :drinks:

Thanks Mark. I knew I could on some one to give me a heads up. What do you think the best material would be to use for the insulation. Big R

I am having a heck of a time with my computer skills. Keep leaving words out. BigR

No worries on the missing words, I find that my posts have missing words as well. It is tough to be your own spell/word checker. Better than trying to read drunk texting....

You may have to do some shopping, you will want the thickest stuff you can find that will insulate, withstand the collector temp and still fit. I bought this small blanket to use between copper pipes and wood in the walls of my house while sweating the copper together. It seems like it is just thick wool felt. A thin aluminum skin over this stuff would work really well.

This is the stuff I used on my chin scoop last summer.

Self adhesive and it works great.

I had to order two and it worked out to be just enough.
