How did you spend Christmas day

Walking. Always go walking on Christmas Day - it's a tradition. A man can think when he's walking. Mainly I was thinking that if the weather were a little better I'd be riding.

Our 18-y-o refrigerator decided the 22nd would be a good day to die. We didn't notice until the 23rd (freezer stuff is still barely frozen) and investigation and experimentation took us until the night of the 26th, when we concluded that repair was likely a risky endeavor and it'd be best to just buy a new one.

With visions of my Penske fund emptied, we sallied forth to go refrigerator shopping on Sunday. Found one no problem, but stainless steel was a 2-week wait so had to forget that to wife's dismay.

However, 0% APR for 18 mos. came to the rescue, and the Penske fund was saved!

New box to be delivered later today. Luckily we hadn't laid in a lot of holiday food, so thus far spoilage losses have been limited to about $25.
Now if I could only convince the wife that lumpy milk is good for her,,,

Sounds like you already have it sorted out - but FYI there is a place called Appliance Exchange in Orange that sells nearly new refrigerators for dirt cheap.  I got a 1 year old Kenmore there that retails for $1800.00 for $450.00 - including delivery.  Ice and water in door - water filter, etc. etc.  It was in flawless condition.

Spent Christmas in hospital with my darling Helen.
we had a hospital Christmas lunch and then kids arrived with a Christmas dinner!
-even some leftovers so I didn't have to cook the next day.
Helen is back home today.

All said it was a good Christmas as we were together with the family.

Threejags, can you get your home insurance to cover your fridge and/or the contents?.
ours died and it was covered for fusion and so were the contents- ours carked it on the 24th of dec one year.

Thanks, Marsh, yes, the new unit is installed and properly refrigerating (41*F is the max allowable restauraunt refrigeration temp, FWIW...).

I'd considered refurb/used, but going second-hand refrigerator shopping with my dearly beloved in tow seemed a road best left unridden.

As there's only the 2 of us, our refrigerator needs are relatively modest. After the city energy efficiency rebate, a standard 18.2cf came to $576 including tax and delivery, and removal of the old one. So not as bad as I'd first thought, and all's well that ends well.

Waricle, we're big-city flat-dwellers here. We don' need no home insurance! 

Our 3rd-fl flat's balcony faces the mountains. If we were on the other side of the building, we would have a view of the skyscrapers of downtown LA about 5 mi. away.

How did you get the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Engine to fit into the fj frame?

  lol its a 1/32 trumpeter kit , photo etched filters on the intakes and seat straps...  fully decked out... im kinda a big kid...you do build the radial and the supercharger that goes well back into the fuselage and remove the rear tail section to see it... you should have seen the 1/32 lightning p-38.... man that was a monster full engine built superchargers the lot photo etched seat straps throttle levers the works, all the photo etch stuff is on .2 brass shim... takes a while... after the kit they do of the tbf avenger, theres a big plane... yes im still a kid at heart.... had a full collection in 1/32 of allied and axis aircraft, then got bored and started on the tamiya big 4 series, had 1/9 th scale gsx 1100 cbr 750 race bike and a cb750 jap police special, a 1/12 th ferrari  312 te, 75 and 76 respectivly and the jackie stewart matra .... all gone now.. years of moving have destroyed them all. miss my 3 folk wolfs the most the radial (190D) and the inline jamo motor and the last variant the TA with the extended wing and fuselage.... would be fun to fit a radial in a bike, have seen it done with 8 cylinder jobs into a harley frame, but a twin row ?? thats pushing it  be doing these ones i think
