Hey, I like the look of the gsxr hugger fender mod that some of you fellas have put on your 17'' rear tire mod. I would like to know if anyone has done this mod with the stock 16'' rear tire, I am thinking about trying to protect my rpm rear shock better and all around kick up of road grime etc. Would it look like a dogs breakfast on a 16'' tire? Not planning on rear 17'' mod just yet.  Don

It will work. Just have to find one and fit it...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I think the brake stay and brake will be in your way on the 16" stock wheel.  The GXSR wheel incorporates the under-slung brake.

BTW, let it be known that the hugger fender gets scuffed on both sides by the upper fender/seat undercarriage. (I'm referring to the GSXR fender used in the hugger mod thread found in the files section of the forum.)  I've got my rear wheel adjusted with the Penske shock so that my tire just touches the ground when on the center stand, and the shock/ride set on the firm side and it still scuffs as the shock fully cycles.  I repainted it one year in hopes that it was a one time occurrence, but it happened again. I do ride 2-up a fair amount but I would think if I'm using the shock correctly, it should cycle fully if set properly even when riding solo.

Just something to consider if you want everything to look perfect on your bike at all times--you'll be setting yourself up for some disappointment.

Thanks for the offer Fred but it would seem I need to do a little more research on fitment and size, I will assume there must be a couple size widths in these fenders and a possible rubbing point/ under slung brake issue. from what Markmartin has posted on this particular FJ mod. The fender on Marks 86 ambulance looks excellent.
