You killed it, start looking for a replacement engine. :empathy3:

You can have it rebuilt as well , but if it is knocking that is probably a damaged rod.

Gotta tear it all apart and find out what happened.

For you with your skill set , I would recommend finding a used engine of the same year or buy that 92 for sale on the list.

You can ask the SoCal guys to have a listen .. be nice or they will bite. (probably a Monkey  bite) :rofl2:

How much is an engine?

I would love to tear the old one apart and rebuild it.

How much is an engine? How much is a bag of groceries? Depends on what's inside.

*Perhaps* you can just get away with fresh rods....but a tear down is necessary to see what's up.

In any case, don't run the engine or things will come apart and you will ventilate the case....like Skymaster Mike.

I have had a similar experience with a previous owned bike. Ended up being a bad rod bearing. I had the engine repaired at a cost of $1500.00. This was back in 1990, so I can imagine the cost will have risen.

As preveously mentioned, you have 2 choices.

1. Remove the engine from the bike, contact a freight shipping company and send it the RPM for a rebuild. Expect a price tag to start at $1500.00 and depending on internal damage, upwards of $2500.00.

2. Buy another FJ in the $1800.00-$2500.00 range and you have a spare bike to use for spare parts and you can get the bad engine repaired at your leisure.
