Wishing you all happy holidays with the sufficient patience necessary to tolerate family gatherings.  :flag_of_truce: :wacko3: :empathy3:

Amazingly warm weather this winter in Central Oregon. Since November we've only had one day of measurable snow which melted in a few days. Good riding weather for the FJ, but GREAT riding weather for the KTM. We have had rain and the dirt is perfect. These two pics were taken on the same day.

Be glad to share some of what we have.  Currently 42C outside and forecast to be a bit warmer tomorrow.

and NO!, I do not want to trade

Arnie,

That is hot. I lived in Fillmore, California for 19 years. For 8 weeks or so in late summer and early fall, it would get that hot.

I'm okay with anything under 38C or 100F, but over that just makes it tough to be outside. I've lost 15 lbs mountain biking in that kind of heat. Drank 2.5 liters of water, never pee'd and still lost 15 lbs. The headache went away after about 18 hours.

I rode my KTM450exc today. Most of the snow had melted and the trails were muddy and sloppy in places but it felt great to ride. Taking the FJ out tomorrow for a couple hour ride.

Life is good and I hope things have cooled down for you,

Jeff

We're currently getting a 1/2 hr highlight package of the Dakar Rally on TV each day.
Yesterday they had 50C + temps in the dunes.  Can't even contemplate riding with all the PPE they wear and horsing a bike through terrain like that.  There was a death in the motorcycle division (so far).
Certainly a competition for folks younger and fitter than I am (or ever was).

Yes, the temps have moderated a bit, and we've even had some rain :-) yay

I have been watching the Rally coverage (I follow it closely every year)
Initial reports say the rider died from hypothermia and dehydration..............

"CHILECITO, Argentina  - Polish biker rider Michal Hernik's death on the 2015 Dakar Rally was due to hypothermia and dehydration, early tests revealed on Thursday (Jan 8 2015).

The 39-year-old's body was found on Tuesday 300m from the desert track without his helmet or apparent injury and no damage to his motorcycle to indicate a fall.

DAKAR FIRST-TIMER

Organisers sent a helicopter to look for Hernik after he failed to arrive at the finish line of Tuesday's stage between the Argentinian towns of Villa Carlos Paz and Chilecito.

His satellite tracker had stopped sending signals.

The Pole was taking part in the Dakar Rally for the first time.

His was the fifth death since the rally was moved to South America in 2009 because of security concerns in the Sahara region and the 24th since the race was created in 1979."

Got another ride in. 40F or 4C.

Rode to a meet-up with my dual-sport riding buddies for some refreshments and food

Great turn-out considering the weather.

I was the only one on a sportbike. The FJ was well received. One guy had a Tenere that looked really sweet.
