Tire Replacement

The last couple of  stories on here are scary.I just cant understand how any business would put someones life on the line for a few dollars by employing untrained staff. I could not have that on my conscious.

Yes, the tire does deteriorate over time mostly from ozone exposure.
You can check when the tire was made by carefully inspecting the sidewall where you'll find a week and year of manufacture molded into the rubber.

Personally, I'd be ok with a tire 5 or 6 yrs old, but very nervous about a tire that's 10+ years old.

Bones

I've had a front tyre put on backwards before, so now when I take my rims in I put a couple of strips of masking tape on the rim with rotation and an arrow written on it, so they know which way it turns and there's no excuse for getting it wrong.

I'd rather fit the wheels myself too rather than some apprentice who doesn't know or care what he's doing, that way I know it's done properly.
