Does Hepco and becker still make a complete setup for the old FJ like the support rack to fit our bikes and new hard saddle bags or is it a search for everything to find what I need.

aviationfred

Yes Hepco and Becker still offers a full frame and luggage for the 1100/1200's. Buying a complete frame and bags will set you back in the neighborhood of $1400.00

Wow, they are not cheap are they. German engineers, did they not almost invent everything!!! I am glad to see they support the FJ, your pretty crafty with the computer there Fred, thanks for your time and the links. Decisions Decisions, go big or go home seems to be my thoughts when going with hard luggage.          Don

I got my Hepco frame and bags used from another member here. Paid about $500.00 for them and I have a inexpensive Givi knockoff top box.

The bags show up on eBay on occasion.

The easiest and least expensive way to go with Hard Bags is the Givi Wing Wrack II on eBay. They are universal and you can get the FJ specific mount kit from the FJ owners club in the UK. I have heard the mount kit is not the highest quality, but they will work. Used Givi bags are often on eBay.

You may have to pay retail for the Hepco Becker rack for your early model FJ. I was able to pick up a set of HB Junior 30's and a set of Junior 40's for less than 300 dollars per set on Ebay. I also found a great deal on the HB  52 liter top case. It will take time to find a good deal, but they do come up pretty often. Good luck on your hunt.

Hey Fred do you think there will be an issue with hard bags set up on my bike with the new RPM SS exhaust? Just wondering if the side boxes will hit the header.

FJmonkey

My GIVI 36 liter bags clear the RPM exhaust, no problem... Ride tested as well, over 400 miles with no issues clearing the bags. Over 1,000 miles on the RPM system. Hope this helps.

The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

There is no clearance issues with the RPM exhaust with the Hepco and Becker Journey 40 liter bags.

That was my reasoning also.  -- With the tank bag I've got 154 liters of storage which I find ideal for touring.  Here's a shameless photo of my wife and the FJ on day three, of a four day trip around the Gaspe Peninsula.  http://www.quebecmaritime.ca/en/plan-your-trip/road-trip-ideas/the-gaspesie-tour

I posted this down in the parts for sale area but thought it might be of some interest here also.  Revzillia has the GIVI 297 top box mount for the 87-96 FJ's in stock now for 75.00. You have to buy a top plate separately.

Just passing it along. I am not affiliated in anyway with GIVI or Revzillia.

Excellent, thanks Mark and Fred for the pictures, I am glad there is ample clearance there with the RPM exhaust. On my bike the previous owner had switched back from a header to stock exhaust saying he just loved the black chrome look, I am thinking my jetting should be good as I would think he never re jetted back to stock jetting. Time will tell, cheers.     Don
