Just purchased 2hand 94 FJ1200 thats been in storage for 5 years
What a beast low k's all original spot on bike I have been hanging out for one of these for a while to add to my collection of toys.
Live in the South West of Tasmania twisty touring heaven.

Couple of things the machine has original stock silencer's after rego whats an alternative as it sounds like a vacuum cleaner with the standard oem pipes and mufflers? slips on cans the go? or best to lash out with a 4-1 stainless system & cans?  If so where do I get them from?  The rubber is 5 Years old but hardly worn anyway I shall replace with new rubber whats the best choice?

Cheers

Don't ride on the old rubber unless its to get up and down the drive at low speeds. I know of too many riders go down due to old tires that looked good. Slip-on pipes can give you better sound. And performance if you also upgrade to better air filters like the UNI dual pods. But you will have to make some minor carb changes like jetting and raising the needles. If adding just slip-on pipes then don't worry if you can stay on stock jetting with the OEM air box. I liked the Suppertrapp slip-on pipes till I went and got the RPM system, very nice, very happy with it.

Welcome ! As mentioned,  inspect and change out the rubber items. The FJ is old but not short of performance.  Ask questions as you go. There is lots of good help and information here. Be aware that some if not most of the 4 into 1 exhaust systems for the FJ block the oil drain plug and makes it more of a chore to change oil. Lots of good slip on's on the market.

Hi and Welcome

Re: new exhaust to the FJ. I ordered a new 4-1 stainless system from RPM (FJ specialist in the USA) for about $1200 Delivered (I live in Grafton NSW) they are a very nice system and so they don't obscure the sump plug (very important for oil change time.) Randys ads (RPM) are all over this forum. I have had 3 large orders from him and they took about 14 days to arrive here in Oz.

Not knowing the expense that you want to spend. Here is a listing on eBay  for a New set of slip-on cans from Poland that ships to Australia.

For a full system, this is the ticket. The RPM, 4-2-1 allows for access to the oil drain plug, is stainless steel, choice of 4 different cans, and weighs next to nothing.

I have this exhaust with the Titanium can on my FJ.

Welcome in FJTAS.

All good advice here. There is a thread here on opening up the stock cans somewhere if you would like to keep the stock look. New rubber NOW...

And enjoy those Tas roads..
