Good Morning from northern California-

I am new FJ1200 owner - bought a 1989 dark blue FJ12 (16K - all original) back in March (or so) of 2013.  Its my first bike and I am loving my first choice more and more everyday.  The first year I owned this bike I only rode it occasionally - every couple weeks.  But this summer it has been my main transportation and I am really starting to get to know it better.  Already I've made good use of all the great information on the site - Thanks!
Last night I completed some basic maintenance including - installation of new Avon Storm 3D X-Ms front and rears, oil and filter change (I went with mobile one 10w40), and replacement of front and rear brake pads (just EBCs).  The new tires make it feel like a new bike!
I'm hoping to make it through the winter (hopefully a wet winter - we need the rain) with this bike as my daily transportation - and looking forward to discovering some new roads on the occasionally weekend trip as well.
I look forward to continuing to rely on the wealth of knowledge here on the site and look forward to the day I can offer some meaningful input as well!

Thanks all!

My FJ is a dark blue '89 also. It was an older gentleman's touring bike with 24K on it. It is truly a great bike!

There is nothing like a new set of high quality tires to change the character of your bike.  :good:

Good luck.

Welcome !  You have lots of good riding country down there.  I am envious.  Someday take a ride down to Randy's place (RPM) in Oakdale.  There is nothing he doesn't know about the FJ.  Next spring there will be a West Coast Rally you might be interested in.  It is a great way to meet other members.   :drinks:

I think that dark blue paint scheme is STRIKINGLY handsome.
There's nothing you can do that can't be done.

Welcome to the group.  :hi:

I got to see some of the roads in your area. Hwy 20 from I-80 to Yuba City was an awesome road.

I'm not the fastest FJ rider, I am 'half-fast', the fastest slow guy....

The FJ1200 as your FIRST bike?  You nailed it!   :good2:  Many here have been through a dozen bikes before they found the FJ.  Welcome!

Just above Sacramento?  Excellent!  I've spent loads of time in Eldorado County...some FJ riding and quite a bit of rock crawling on the Rubicon.  You'll definitely want to check out the 2015 West Coast Rally in late May...We're having it in Coleville...it's on the 395 on the east side of the Sierra Nevadas.

Lots of fun...a few days...a great way to meet a bunch of excellent humans...and LOTS of great riding!  Some of us are even riding out to the Black Hills of South Dakota for the Central Rally the following weekend.

Again...welcome to the group!

Welcome to the best place for you and your FJ. This is our digital campfire, the Rally is where we enjoy the real campfires. My first rally was in 2011, it rained more than not, but it did not change the fact that it was a really good rally for me. I got to meet and hang out with members I had known for some time but never met in person. What a great experience, I have not missed a rally yet. I know you will enjoy your FJ, you have great roads to have great rides on and some good members in your area. Kookaloo....
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Welcome aboard from another NorCal FJ rider. Seems there's a growing crowd up here. We gotta hook up one of these days.
