Nice collection!  Like you I hate to let go of any beautiful motorcycle and have a few two wheeled rides myself.   :good: There's at least a handful of FJ forum members here in Colorado, shoot me a message if your ever on the Metro front range and let's go ride!  I think your really going to love the FJ, especially in red/white!

Barry
i will do, actually i am pondering a trip to the front range this weekend, i would have to leave really early to meet the person i want to see- this might be an issue on top of the passes- it will be below freezing, i can deal with that, its the possibility of running across ice that scares me

likewise on the invite to ride, if you ever feel like riding in the hills hit me up- i know some fantastic rides outa Eagle, county
thanks

Wow, nice stable you got there fjfool (more like yamahafool)! I started motorcycle life on a 72 R5 I bought as a leftover in 73. Loved the 2-stroke wail with the baffles out.  :wacko3: Looks like you got ahold a good FJ. The ambulances have become my fav color scheme. Tons of good info here from many knowledgeable owners, a lot that have owned theirs since new. I've only had mine since this spring but 4500 miles later and I'm hooked. I hope you get some seat time before winter sets in.
i was close to an R5, i chose a blown up '74 insted- she came out pretty good i think
i think she went to colorado springs

I feel for you, Fool!  I did that earlier this year, except it was about 5x the $$ for my KTM.  I was very lucky to get a great offer from one of our members who was already coming past Georgia to CA for the WCR. (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=11759.0) FJScott made a 100 mi+ detour to NE Georgia, pickup my new mare and dropped her off to me in Willits!  It can and has worked out.

Fingers crossed,

Ed

she sure looks like a beauty, gonna have to wait a couple of weeks till the shipper gets it here
i have done this once before-waiting is hell!

truth is, i just sent $2500 to a complete stranger, and another $650 on motorcycle shipping based on this stranger doing what he said he was going to do
i'm pretty damn freaked out!
wish me luck with this transaction please

"looks like one needs pretty thick skin on this site, i like that- a little smack talk never hurt anyone"

Not really !  I really would ask you to meet some of the active members on the forum for a ride and, or get to a rally.  You will find them a great group of people.
Extremely helpful.  Like any other forum you occasionally get someone that will ask a question but will not listen or wants to debate every small detail.  Most of the time it is a newer member.  The FJ knowledge base here is quiet deep.  Some have owned and maintained there FJ's since new.  The FJ was sold world wide and there isn't much that hasn't already been done to one by somebody else and usually have the answer for the asking.  Like I said a lot of helpful members.

Ed's experience shows more how the group is. When your bike arrives let us know what you think and where we can help if needed.  There are some good members in your area take sometime and meet them.  Winter will be closing in soon so you might think about a coffee shop meeting with them just to get through the winter.  The "PM" area of the forum is good for that.  :drinks:

Just to add to that:  Of course  I never knew or met the seller prior to this whole episode.  I also had never met or knew FJScott prior to this!  Seller was a peach, but Scott was a real prince, making the whole thing a great adventure rather than the nightmare I was imaging!

Thanks again Scott!

Not really. You just happened to check in right in the middle of one of the extremely rare shitstorms. Trust me, it could have gotten a lot worse than it did.

thanks again fellas.
well the seller just called me as the shipper was loading the bike- i knew his pain for sure Benjy was pretty bummed to see her go, poor guy
in the mean time i want to say , since my first post, Benjy has been in great commication, and has done all the other things i requested - shipped title by registered mail, and shipped the other loose items seperatly, he really made me feel alot more confident about the transaction thru his actions
the anxiety is a product of my paranoia
so i'm stoked, the bike is in the mail!

fjfool

and about the smack talk comment, that is not my intrest here- i will admit its pretty damn funny over there at gixxer.com
just as "movenon" said, they generally wont take advice from a member that has superior knoleledge and actually is willing to share it- they generally have it coming to em
i'm an electrician, not a mechanic.
thru these forums i have been given access to information and support that has allowed me to confidently rebuild complete bikes-motors included
most importantly, service and maintain them properly so i am not reliant on a dealeship or finding a competant mechanic that really doesnt want to bother with a 30 year old bike- Denver is far away and powersports just arnt that big in ski country and there are few choices
i have great respect for these places
i look forward to sharing some tricks i have learned in hopes to offset the info i am going to be pestering folks for as i start the journey with this one, winter is here already- this bike should get here in time to save my sanity thru the dark months
i also look forward to meeting some people here too, i have made some great friends thru my old two stroke bikes in Grand Junction, they do a monthly get together and a great annual vintage show in Palisade,CO

its amazing what 2wheels, a motor, and a chain can inspire

I LOVE your stable FJ. Got me thinkin, "with red and white you'll never miss the blues"
