would one use WD40 as a make do, or is it best to use the right stuff?? I have much faith in WD40 and bathe in it everyday. Does wonders for squeaky joints.

If you got squeaky joints, you need to roll 'em tighter!

Spraying straight Simple Green, scrubbing with an old toothbrush, and rinsing with plain water works wonders.

If ya wanna use WD, better pull the pads first!

The outside or the inside? Any cleaner is good for the outside, but I was always taught to use ONLY brake fluid or denatured alcohol for the innards..... anything else could cause problems down the road.

Where:

S(c) = compression strength of the filler material
S(t) = tensile strength of the sleeve material
T(r) = radial torque
F(t) = tensile force,

F(t) = T(r) when T(r) = S(c)/2, and  F(t) = S(t)/2

Actually, simply using those joints for their indended purpose generally does an excellent job of reducing any instances of over-thinking things.
