I built a set of lowered foot pegs today.

My one ache from this bike was the foot peg height. Although it hurt my back a little I didn't think much of it until I saw that AviationFred had lowered his and said he liked it. My 90 model rear brake lever is a bit different than Fred's so I decided to just make a set and try them instead of ordering the R 6 ones. Man all I can is, WOW what a difference a inch and a half makes. :good2: I also added an inch length to the pegs which helped me allot comfort wise. Now that I know I like them , I'll go ahead and rebuild them to look better. I need to get tapered bolts and recess them in the brackets to clean the look up a bit.
Yamahas from my past,
IT465, IT200, YZ80. 350Warrior, Kodiak400, Kodiak450,
Various others include
XR600, KX500, KDX200, ATC250R, ATC350X, ATC 200S
Currently ride
FJ 1200 , DRZ400, Yamaha Viking, Suzuki Samurai dirt mobile

looks good Tuner, should clean up nice :good2:

I took the rubbers of mine a couple years ago, gave me about an inch more leg room, the ali was a bit too smooth, so I just cut some light grooves in them with a hacksaw for grip, been good since.

Any difference with vibration through the peg with no rubber ?

Hows the ground clearance now when you chuck it into a corner? I went the other way and put them up and rearward, i guess everyone likes different foot position. Looks great, cheap mod if your handy with a welder.

Just had a look at the FJ pegs. They are pressed steel and look pretty crap without the rubbers, The XJR alloy pegs look much better

another thing that can help with leg comfort is a seat cushion, because it raises you off the existing seat position.

I use an Airhawk cushion, these are quite common and well known even in the US I think.

the instructions with these things tell you to only have low pressure in them, but I've found better comfort with them pumped up hard, its only lung hard, not compressor hard, and it elevates you a inch or so off the seat, straightening the legs, works for me.

Where did you get that nice looking oil temperature gauge?  Dave
A pistol is like a parachute, if you need one and don't have one you will never need one again.

the MEK is what I've got, although the pic doesn't look quite right, they may be model specific too, so check to see if they have them for your model FJ before ordering, other thing is they are in Celsius, don't know if they make em In Fahrenheit.

Thanks K. That clear view clutch cover from MEK combined with Randy's Barnett clutch conversion would look good too.  Dave
