I tried to call Andy French this morning following a 6.1 earthquake in Napa this morning as that is where he lives. Keep him in your thoughts as well as any other members in the area.

Them wineo's can handle a little shaking, they can hardly stand vertical anyway... 6.1 is a good hard shake, I experienced the Northridge quake while in Newhall, CA. It was the most violent shaking I have ever felt from the earth. It was also the discovery of a new thrust fault in Newhall. I hope all is well in the wine country. Post when you can Andy and any others in the area.

Most news outlets are reporting only minor injuries, power outages, some fires, water main breaks and lots of broken bottles of wine!!!     OHHHH, the humanity!!!

A 6.something earthquake is nothing to take lightly.  Like the monkey, I too was in the Northridge quake and don't ever want to experience that again!  My best wishes to those effected and are having to deal with the aftermath.

I woke up just as it hit at 3:20 this morning and I'm in the East Bay (Dublin).  At 52 not my first quake (born and raised here) but probably in the top 5 or 6 and I am 43 miles from the epicenter.

This just in..... - phew! a lucky escape for persons and cat here in my corner of Napa.
Much thanks to Randy for a check-in call and Craig Z for a text.
Big clean up job, lots of broken glass, mirrors etc, but no windows where damaged.
Biggest casualties were the flat screen and a printer and a few hairline cracks in the stucco, but no real heartache.
However, the bike got pitched off it's side stand. Luckily those fab engine bars saved everything bar the left hand air scoop (it's always going to be an air scoop).
What's another epoxy seam on those 28 year plastics?
Wife had the luckiest of escapes - full bookcase detaches from wall and narrowly misses the sleeping missus by the smallest of margins.
Naturally I made a video.

Earthquake Prep 101: Sleep with your shoes next to your bed....after the shaking stops, do not get out of bed unless you put your shoes on first....before anything, underwear, robes, etc....shoes first....even before looking for a flashlight....shoes first.....smell natural gas? That can wait...Put your shoes on first...

Foot lacerations are a bitch and in the chaos of a mass trauma triage, they are very low on the priority list.
You may have to wait for days to get sutures.
