Here are the parts recommended below. The pilot jets you select the size required which will be the #40 and the S/S screw & 0-ring kit will take care of everything in the carbs.

Mikuni Fuel Pilot Jet

FJ11-12/XJ12/XJR13 S/S Screw & O-Ring Carburetor Kit

The website will calculate the shipping cost based on your address and shipping service selected.

is the #40 for pod and/or airbox filtration?

There's nothing you can do that can't be done.

When you get the kit from Randy and have the carbs off check the files section and sync the carbs..that should help .I'm going to have to do the same with my 86 when i do my carbs..although my vibes aren't as bad as yours

Thanks Redwolf. It's a bit of a relief to hear that unsynced Carbs can cause a vibration. I was worried it might be something in the engine that had given way. I will deffo check on here for cleaning and syncing. I have never done it before. Tried earlier to unscrew the caps on top of the carb but the screws weren't budging. Gonna be fun :-(

Actually, the majority of FJ's benefit from the larger pilot jet regardless of the air filter configuration.

thanks Randy.  I don't want to hijack the thread, but I'm thinkin' I need to go this route as well, The bike feels lean on the bottom; it staggers a little at light throttle and pops back every once in a while; both traits are more noticeable with a cold motor and are lessened by a bit of choke.  Like I said, feels a tad lean.

Yep, and since you induce the choke and it runs better, you have confirmed a lean condition.

Should the 40's and O-rings clean that up?

Possibly, maybe, could be...

but if the internal orifices of the carbs are clogged slightly, nothing will fix that unless they are ultrasonic cleaned.

I was thinkin' that.  If it isn't breaking any rule of the Board could you tell me what you would charge to go through them and what sort of turn-around I'd be looking at?

The current rate of carb rebuilding is $135.00 labor and the minimum of the screw & o-ring kit at $22.00. If other parts are required, they are additional.

Turn around is usually just a couple of days.

That is a great deal.  All future carb problem questions should be answered "just send 'em to Randy"
