Moparman70 -  Steve home safe

total of 616 miles covered - Avg moving speed 71mph ( really good considering we spent 30 mins touring around San Fran on city streets) -- made up the speed on the 5 once we crossed from the 101.  Moving time 8hr48mins  Stopped time 2hr 45mins

Mike - Mark --- that BMW bike  ( the high speed guy we followed for a bit 100+ )---- reappeared and passed me just after I left you Mark -- at the 210/5 --- I followed for a bit then backed off -- caught up to him once again as the traffic slowed --- he wasn't a lane splitter I guess so he was  never to be seen again once I passed him.

the 5 through LA was great no real traffic --normal or plus speeds all the way home.  Will post pics later on Mikes post

Thanks to all -- it was a blast to see and party and ride with all.

Had a great time with all. Looking forward to next rally already. Thanks to everyone for making it a great rally. Fred and I made it to my house about 9:30 pm mountain time. My bike unloaded and Fred is all loaded ready to leave in the morning for the last leg of his trip.

We rolled in about 11:10 PM.  No drama, just loose tie downs, Bay area traffic, and the fun continued down I-5.  All home good with a shiny KTM in the truck bed.  Time for zzzzzzzzzz ...

Cap'n Ron and I rode hwy 36/3 today with Donna following in the support vehicle. It was a spectacular ride! 335 miles of awesome! In Yreka for the night. Donna and I will be slowly making our way home by Saturday. Ron will be takin the long way home as he does(really long way).

Donna and I had a great time at this year's rally. Thank you to all who helped to make it our favorite rally to date.

Hope everyone has safe journeys home.

Steve,  made it home fine. That guy on the Beemer was too high profile for me.
All, in spite of the setbacks, I had an AMAZING time at the rally. Liking forward to next year already.  :-)

Our turn...

Getting Dan home was the Sunday project...  Diane and I rolled from the KOA with Wizard and Dan's mount on the trailer, then went to his hotel to get him into his car for the ride home.  He broke the lower 3 ribs on the left side (likely guard rail impact) and is bruised and beaten a bit, but he stayed tough and we got him into the back seat of his truck...  took about an hour.  We took two of his kids (his wife and 3 kids came up to Willits as well...  it is his wife's home town) so he'd have some room, then we headed to San Jose.  3.5 hours and we were slightly behind them due to towing/lunch timing.  By the time we got to his house he was inside in his easy chair, smiling, and joking about the weekend...  he's going to be fine.  I put his bike, the front and rear 17" conversion parts from Derek, and the windscreen from Fred in his garage waiting for him...  I'd bet he'll be out there looking it over within the week.

Diane and I headed home then and did our unloading, then ordered some mexican food to go and recapped the fantastic riding Friday and Saturday.  She's truly hooked and, as Ron pointed out, a keeper for sure (if she'll keep me that is).  She especially enjoyed the scenery and the company failed to scare her off again this year...  we'll be back.  Thanks to LA Mike for getting me the shirts and for Derek knocking on our door early Sunday to make sure we still wanted the parts.  I'll PM you guys and get payments sent.

We all wanted to thank the recovery crew especially (Randy, Mike R, Mopar Steve, and Corey the Dancer) for coming to the scene and getting the bike back to camp.  Dan wanted me to give a special thanks to all along with an apology to those impacted by his incident.  I'm going to leave it to Dan to post some pics and tell his story...

Just glad it wasn't worse and he will make a full recovery. He can use this as an excuse to mod the bike. Frank you are a GREAT friend. Thanks everybody for taking care of Dan and the bike.

I made it home. An extremely long day. Started at 5am mountain time and got in to Wichita at 11pm central time. Trip meter on the truck shows 3787 miles for the round trip. The truck performed flawlessly and the FJ was happily tied down snugly the whole way. No issues and no performance awards.  :yahoo:

Glad Dan is going to be ok. The windscreen for Dan's bike is a donation, no payment required.

I will get photos posted in a day or so.

This is a bit off topic but we nearly had a disaster of our own on Saturday.  Fortunately the rider saw the situation developing and avoided it before it was too late.  Sorry for the crude sketches and such, but I'm not an artist and barely a motorcyclist!

Moparman & Florida Scott were heading down Highway 29 into Calistoga, with LA Mike & myself separated by several vehicles, with FJMonkey further separated by a few more vehicles.  As we approached the Disaster Point,  LA Mike decided to pass the 3 vehicles as we approached the interesection.  At the same time, vehicle #1-lead vehicle, in our direction signalled for a right turn, as well as vehicle #2 (both as red dots on diagram.  Both our bikes are yellow dots on diagram, LA Mike in lead).

At the same time Target Vehicle (brown dot on diagram) determined that oncoming traffic was turning right and began to pull out for left turn.  LA Mike was in passing position next to Vehicle #3-trailing vehicle, and accelerating towards impact point!  I had a perfect view of impending events when Mike let off and pulled in from of Vehicle #3, thus avoiding the impact.

This is by no means an attack on Mike's riding, judgement or anything else.  I have done EXACTLY the same thing many times!  Mike got a sense of what was developing and retreated, a SMART MOVE!
But this should be a warning for all of us how dangerous our hobby is and how vigilant we must be ALL THE TIME!  As my Dad told me more than 40 years ago, assume all cars don't see you AND they're trying to kill you!

Another kick butt rally - what are the odds? You riders made it all happen and happen with class. Big up to this years distance folk from way over on the eastside. Just how is it that 30 people can get together and just have a thoroughly good time, without anyone being a nob? Your all so gosh darn lovely, to quote a Depp line from the chocolate factory.
Special thanks to Colorado Alan and his cabin for saving my last minute arrival from having to erect a tent in the dark, bonus.
Dan, all the best with the rebuild, both ribs and bike. Wise investment those engine bars.
Top shelf riding with Mike Ramos, Mark O, and Craig Z, Randy, Kerry, Frank and Dan.
You know what, I hear that next years rally will be even better.
