Slow oil leak

I have a slow oil leak, which look like it coming from either the header in front of the engine or by the spark plugs. I know this could be many things, like head gasket, valve seals, hopefully not the piston rings. Does anyone have any recommendations? I guess the first thing I should do is take the heads off and see exactly what the problem is?

Most probably it's the valve cover gasket and the rubber grommets.  Change those first. 

The head gasket would only leak oil on the right side where the oil galleys are or around the cam chain tunnel.  Highly doubtful that it's a head gasket leak.

Yep - plus 1 on those valve cover grommets - buy a set from Randy - they have saved me much clean up.
Don't try to make your own as I did with homedepot rubber washers - they melt.

  Just a thought I had an oil leak from the front ages ago may I suggest tracing it? Clean engine thoroughly and run it, go for a little ride maybe. I'm not taking the mickey but mine turned out to be a pin hole flaw in the casting near the cam chain tunnel, for all intents and purposes I had a leaking rocker cover, but in fixing the thing I replaced oil lines , o rings, cam chain adjustor gasket, etc etc.
Not saying that this is what's wrong with yours just saying it pays to trace it back, I have heard that it is possible to trace oil leaks using flour, never have done this technique.
