Just in case any one wants to know. Scala G9 helmet to helmet communicator systems have a new feature. The original G9 came with hard wired speakers, meaning you could not use ear buds in their system. New this year an upgraded Audio kit is available that will allow you to plug in whatever speaker or ear bud you wish. It is called Audio kit for G9 and G9x. Having purchased one allows you to switch helmets easily as well, as the unit itself will attach to either kit. My intention is to have molded hearing protection made and install some ear buds into these. I hate riding without ear plugs, and this way will have the best of both worlds. The kit sells for $59.99. I found mine on amazon.
On a long trip with up to 9 guys you can chat for approx. 6 hours before needing a recharge.

Gotta love how other companies call it a new feature when their competitors have been doing this for years.  (popcorn)

Although I have to admidt, I'm a vapid Sena fanboy. The SMH-10 unit I've had for the last three years has been nothing short of remarkable.  Especially with the constant firmware/feature updates along the way. The dang thing has been so reliable that I doubt it'll ablige me and die so that I have an excuse to get the S20 when it comes out...

Although I have to say, the new universal intercom feature is awesome. Was able to coach my buddy who has a HBC200 unit and not have to use hand signals. Pretty cool.

Yes . To top it off they have some models in their line up that have that feature,( plug in earbuds) but the best product they have didn't. I suppose it's a way to sell more crap. I had never owned any such equipment and took a stab at it. Ended up with a G9. Live and learn.

:hi: I picked up the Scala Rider Q1 Team Set at the International Centre bike show a couple of weeks ago.

A good rider-to-passenger set up for Cathy and I when we are touring around :good2:

John.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in an attractive & well preserved body...but rather to slide in sideways, body completely worn out and and with your last dying breath screaming, "HOOOYA LIFE, lets try that again"!!!

I bought the original Q2's when they first came out many years ago. They almost couldn't give them away. Everybody, including here, was suspicious of these new fangled things, they were the work of the Devil and magazine pages were still full of ads for wired units. We got a pair for under half price.
My brother's has done 170,000 and mine 120,000. Other than occasionally needing to (re) pair them, they have been brilliant. Mine had just started to play up a bit and they have seen a lot of rain.We can talk all day, about 10-12 hrs and give them a zap over lunch just to be sure. Just ask to use their power points, no one has ever objected.

You should be very happy with yours. Being able to talk to your pillion or riding buddy is fantastic.

I had decided on the Sena SMH10 as a replacement but Skymasterers mentioned a new model coming out. Hmmmm, back to the research.

I've had a set of  SENA 20S BT INERCOM DUAL PACK  on order since before Christmas.  They were taking orders with a 'when we get them from the manufacturer, we'll send them'  then I was given a ship date in Feb, then it changed to March 25th, and then March 25th came and it's gone back to 'when we get them from the manufacturer, we'll send them' .

I'm hoping they get here before the riding season starts!

Well, considering you can get the SMH-10's on the used market for $30, it's hard to justify almost $300 for the S20...

markmartin

Wow, that's a good price.  I haven't seen anything used for even close to that price.  EBay's got clamp kits for that price, but not the entire rig.
