Reference: a bike that runs cleanly at small throttle openings when cold, but starts to show signs of richness as it heats up to full operating temperature, will usually be leaned out enough to be correct if the fuel level is LOWERED 1mm. Check out and RESET all: Suzuki (all), Yamaha (all) and Kawasaki (if low speed problems occur). Needless to say, FUEL LEVEL IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!

If there are low-end richness problems, even after lowering the fuel level much more than 1.5mm from our initial settings, check for needle wear and needle jet (part of the emulsion tube). ... It is VERY common for the brass needle jets (in the top of the "emulsion tube") in 36mm, 38mm and 40mm Mikuni CV carbs to wear out in as little as 5,000 miles. Check them for "oblong" wear - the needle jet orifice starts out round!

That does help tremendously.  Since it won't idle now without the choke, I'll need to check everything.  Nothing is worse than going thru a 4 pack of M/C carbs and having a do-over right away. (except fubaring a 700r4, DOH)

If she won't idle without choke it's pretty much a guarantee that the pilot jets are clogged and the fuel passages may be gummed up too. Definitely needs a good thorough cleaning off the bike. Berrymans B-12 and an air compressor are the best tools for the job.

The bike was dropped in deep gravel right at the threshold of the PO's garage door.  I almost dropped it too, when we rolled it out. Dude shoulda put some road base on there.  The scuffing really wasn't that bad, BUT, I like to paint, plus I'm so happy to have it, I just don't want to park it in the garage till spring.  

The paint is such a dark blue that I though I was buying a black one till the sun hit it. Thinking a shade or two lighter and fewer stripes and stickers.

Maybe some of that aluminum could be polished too...
