I just have one response to the interest the Black Hills Rally is getting:

Cap'n Ron. . .

The STAR 2014 Rally is in Rapid city first week in June. This is the MSTA annual rally. this is a huge rally they put on with a lot of thought and member input deciding where to have it. Within 100 miles of Rapid City you can reach; Mt.Rushmore, Black Hills, Devils Tower, Sturgis,Visit a decommissioned Minuteman Missile site or stretch out in the badlands... great location!

This months newsletter has a nice ride report in NW Georgia on a route named the gauntlet. Reachable from an ECR.

I'm digging the interest too!  I hope to scout the area out this summer and get some ideas for routes and get a campground dialed in etc... I'm also going to hit some friends up for ideas who make an annual trip to the area.  I've been to one other rally (Gunnison '05) so that's all I have to go on...  What are the typical miles traveled each day?

Not sure what else to ask, I want this to be  :drinks: and  :gamer:  and not   :bad: or :ireful: for all who attend.

I've blocked the time...       :good:

I dunno about the others, but my typical day's ride at the EC FJ rallies goes anywhere from 100-200 miles.

Personally, I tend to favor quality miles over quantity these days.

I recognize part of that route.. the road to Suches (60) and Wolfpen Gap (180) are ECFR staples.

I'd say between 200- 300 miles per day would be a great plenty.
I'd like to see campgrounds in the Black Hills area, if possible.
Maybe even a trip into Wyoming, too.

If a location isn't nailed down yet check out RafterJ Bar Ranch. It's near Hill City and I've called there a couple times.

I have just returned from the West Coast Rally. In discussions concerning next years West Coast Rally. A mention to possibly piggy back consecutive weekends of the 2015 WCR with the 2015 Central Rally came up.

The West Coast Rally will be held in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and is 4-5 hours closer to the Black Hills than previous coastal rallies.

I was asked to see what are the thoughts of moving the Central Rally up 2 weeks and be held on the 5th-7th of June.

There would be an additional 5-10 FJ owners that would leave the West Coast Rally and head straight to the Black Hills for the Central Rally.

If it means more riders will attend I don't see an issue with it.  It's still early enough in the game so this new date still works for me.

Yes.

For someone running their own business, it's going to be too close to the ECSR.
That makes it an either/or proposition for me.  I missed Boone this year, it's not going to happen again.    :unknown:
